The Great Mouse Detective is one hour and fourteen minutes and was released in theaters on July 2, 1986. This was Disney's 26th animated film. The film is base children's book series Basil of Baker Street. The story begins at the Flaversham Toy Shop. It is Olivia's birthday and her father gives her a present. As she is playing with her new toy, Fidget comes in and captures her father. Major Dr. David Q. Dawson finds Olivia crying in a boot and the two find 221B Baker Street; the home of the Great Mouse Detective-Basil. Basil, Dawson, and Olivia, along with Toby (a basset hound) are off to find Olivia's father. In other words the game is afoot. The first stop is at the scene of the crime where Fidget is stealing royal guard's clothes from toy soldiers. While there, Fidget is able to kidnapped Olivia and takes her back to Professor Ratigan's hideout. Professor Ratigan kidnapped Olivia as an incentive to make her father to build the robot of Queen Mousetoria so he can use it to overthrow the real queen. In their quest to find Professor Ratigan's hideout, Basil and Dawson walk into his trap and Professor Ratigan schemes of a cleaver way of killing the two. Basil uses logic and mathematical deductions to get out of the trap. The group head over to Buckingham Palace to free the queen and to rescue Hiram Flaversham. Professor Ratigan takes Olivia hostage and flees Buckingham Palace. Basil, Dawson, and Hiram give chase. The climax of the movie takes place at the top of Big Ben where Basil and Ratigan have their final fight. When the clock bell tolls, the two fall to their deaths, however Basil has managed to grab part of the steering from the dirigible that Ratigan used to make his escape. All four return to Basil's home. An on going gag in the movie is Basil keeps pronouncing Olivia Flaversham's last name incorrectly. During the clock scene, the computer animation is great. The Great Mouse Detective helped launch the Disney Renaissance era. The Great Mouse Detective isn't a Disney movie people tend to think of when they think of their classic animated movies, but it is a classic as much of a must have as the likes of The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast. As for the product delivery, it came in a timely manner and wasn't damaged. It was odd that Amazon packed one little Blu Ray case into a box 10x too big for it rather than a simple padded envelope like usual, but that was an unusual occurrence. It still arrived with no damage so I don't deduct any stars from the rating over it. Again this is a great movie and if you love the classic 2D animated movies, this is a great one for the collection.

Er ist clever und kombinationssicher, trickreich und besserwisserisch, äußerst exzentrisch und doch irgendwie sympathisch. Er wohnt in der Baker Street und ist...NICHT Sherlock Holmes. Aber fast. Sein Name ist Basil und er ist der weltgrößte Detektiv im ganzen Mäusereich. :)Der Film macht von Beginn an keinen Hehl daraus, daß er sich an das Setting der Romanfigur 'Sherlock Holmes' im ausklingenden 19. Jahrhundert anlehnt. Im Gegenteil: ganz kurz ist der "echte" Sherlock Homes auch als Silhouette in einem Fenster zu sehen, bevor der Schwenk zur kleinen Wohnung von Basil im gleichen Haus erfolgt. Doch damit ist mit den Parallelen noch lange nicht Schluß. Auch Basil hat einen Mediziner als Helfer an seiner Seite, den er jedoch erst am Anfang des Filmes kennenlernen wird: Dr. David Wasdenn.Zum Film:London im Jahre 1897: am Abend von Olivias Geburtstag wird ihr Vater, der Spielzeugmacher Hampelmann, vor ihren Augen entführt. Der Entführer ist eine häßliche Fledermaus und nach Auffinden des Detektivs Basil mit Dr. Wasdenns Hilfe auch schnell identifiziert: Greifer, die rechte Hand von Basils Erzfeind Professor Rattenzahn. Und dieser führt nichts Gutes im Schilde. Er hat Olivias Vater entführen lassen, um mit seiner Hilfe die Königin zu stürzen die Macht über das britische Königreich zu erlangen.Wie er das schaffen will und was Olivia, Basil und Dr. Wasdenn auf der abenteuerlichen Jagd zur Rettung des Mäusereichs alles erleben, wird nicht verraten. Selbst anschauen!! ;)Zur DVD:Bild und Ton sind auf gewohnt gutem Disney-Niveau. Auch blieb dieser Film bisher von einer Neu-Synchronisation verschont. Das ist auch gut so, weil die deutschen Stimmen der Figuren wirklich stimmig und glaubwürdig sind. Original ist und bleibt eben original! Ansonsten gibt es auf der DVD noch ein Making-of des Films (in englischer Sprache mit wählbaren deutschen Untertiteln) von etwa acht Minuten sowie zwei Kurzfilme und einige Trailer. Sicher kein üppiges Bonusmaterial, aber durchaus ausreichend. Für die kleinen Zuschauer gibt es auch noch die Möglichkeit, das Lied "Oh Rattenzahn!" mitzusingen.Fazit:Gelungene DVD-Umsetzung ohne große Stärken oder Schwächen eines der besten Disney-Zeichentrickfilme aller Zeiten. Anno 1986 uraufgeführt war dies einer meiner ersten Kinofilme überhaupt (wenn nicht sogar DER erste). Und nicht nur von daher habe ich eine besondere Beziehung zu diesem Film. Leider war er finanziell (wie viele andere Disney-Projekte in den 80er Jahren auch!) nicht sonderlich erfolgreich, weshalb wohl auch bis heute keine Fortsetzung folgte. Eigentlich schade, weil sich gerade hier eine Fortsetzung fast aufdrängt; zumal Dr. Wasdenn am Ende auch davon erzählt, mit Basil "im Lauf der Jahre noch viele Fälle gemeinsam gelöst" zu haben. Aber angesichts der überwiegend lausigen Story-Qualität von überflüssigen Fortsetzungen zu Klassikern wie 'Das Dschungelbuch' oder 'Arielle, die Meerjungfrau' u.a. vielleicht auch besser so!Oder um es mit den Schlußworten Dr. Wasdenns zu sagen: "Ich werde immer mit der größten Dankbarkeit und Zuneigung auf diesen ersten Fall zurückblicken, bei dem ich IHN damals kennenlernte: Basil, den großen Mäusedetektiv." :)

C'est un cadeau que je fais au petit fils de ma sœur. je ne l'ai pas visionné et donc je suis incapable de qualifier ce dessin animé de Walt Disney. ses parents déciderons eux-même de l’opportunité de laisser le gamin le visionner en partie ou en totalité.

Une histoire de demoiselle en détresse avec un très vilain tyran le out résolu par une équipe à la Watson et Holmes sauf que tout cela se déroule effectivement à Londres mais dans le monde des souris qui habitent par exemple dans le sous-sol des vrais humainsHolmes et Watson.J'ai pensé en regardant le blu-ray être un peu déçu par une qualité d'images belles mais qui ne me donnait pas l'impression d'avoir été améliorée par rapport au DVD mais c'est en regardant les bonus, qui eux, utilisent les versions non restaurés que j'ai vu la différence.Durée du dessin animé : 1h12.
