Fills the Gap Between Architecture and Human Perception
This book is a great self learning resource for Architects. It is an interior design book written by an architecture educator that has thorough understanding of Architecture, Code, Human, and even spiritual philosophy. Today's architecture education has been a subject of making forms. Much is exercised on how a form can be made, while little is concerned of why should the forms be there as it is. Students trained in architecture school often have little understanding of human perception: what is the relationship between void and matter, between emptiness and activity; what the ceiling height can change human perception in comfort and aspiration. As most architects look at how to sculpt forms, an interior design book is needed to bring the focus down to human perception. It is not what a form looks like as a model, but what it feels like when interacting with people that matters. For a mild sense of superiority, architects don't want to look down at something personal as interior planning. And this book fills the gap between forms and the reason for forms to be. The author talked about what different scales and approaches makes the user feel. How emptiness and matter interact and where architecture comes into play in this interplay. The knowledge, principles taught in this book should be the first year or two of all architecture students before putting their hands making anything yet. And since this knowledge has been greatly overlooked, it can be found valuable to even the best architects.
