Only Part of a Fluff & Dust Removal Regimen
The YSSHUI [4 Pack] 400x300mm DIY Mesh PC Case Dust Filter, 1.2mm Hole, is an easy-to-fit kit for providing additional filtering of air passing through the case of your PC to cool PC components otherwise liable to depleted performance or failure if they overheat. However, first one should analyse all elements of the problem which you are trying to combat: • More fluff & dust (f&d) outside of the PC case will cause more of this f&d to be drawn into the casing, coating PC components, reducing airflow over them & therefore increasing residual heat. Therefore, the 1st & most important task is to keep the area where the PC ‘lives’ clean & free of f&d: vacuum frequently. • F&d tends to accumulate at floor level, so raise the PC up off the floor, away from the densest f&d. • A periodic regime of cleaning f&d out from the inside of the PC case, particularly off cooling fins & fans, will allow maximum (100%) airflow over them. • If you use mesh filers, such as these YSSHUI ones, they should be placed only on intake grills, not exhaust grills (you want to keep f&d out, not trap it in)! • If you use mesh filters, particularly very fine mesh filters, they should be cleaned even more often than you would have to clean the inside of the PC case, because fine intake holes will clog quicker than course ones! At least magnetic fixture of these YSSHUI mesh filters allows easy removal from the PC case for brushing or washing, well away from the PC. • It should be borne in mind that a fine mesh filter outside the air intakes of the PC case will itself reduce airflow (& may cause extra noise), typically restricting cooling air volume throughput to something like 90% of what it was without the additional mesh filter in place, thus reducing PC component cooling. Cooling gain will only be achieved if the mesh filter airflow restriction so much reduces f&d build-up inside the PC casing that the PC components remain so clean that no cooling is lost there, i.e. you will need to clean f&d from inside of the case at a much earlier state of build-up, in order to actually improve the cooling situation (to compensate for airflow reduction from the presence of the mesh). So, these YSSHUI mesh dust filters are easy to put in place, remove frequently for cleaning & replace, & they can reduce the amount of f&d entering the PC casing. But they are only part of the solution to keeping you PC components cooled & you need to pay attention to all the factors listed above, not think that adding the mesh filters is a simple solution which will allow you to neglect all of the other factors.

Works just fine.
Easy to cut and fit. Mesh can also be mounted between case fans and case for better aesthetics.

Versatile, Easy to Use and Good Value
This dust screen arrived in a simple black plastic package. Inside, the sheets of material were sandwiched between two sheets of thick cardboard to protect them in transit. I have an HP EliteDesk 800 SFF PC that I use to run my CCTV system. It relies on air being taken in from its front and rear vents and the CPU runs hot. I have cut a hole in the case lid directly above the CPU fan and covered it with this screen. Fortunately, the lid is sheet steel so the magnetic strip attaches securely. This has reduced peak CPU temperatures from well above 70° to around 60° (monitored with CPUID HWMonitor). You simply cut the sheet to size and then cut lengths of the self adhesive magnetic strip to go along the edges. It’s very simple to use. The screen traps dust well and its magnetic attachment makes it easy to remove it to clean by wiping or with a vacuum cleaner. You get plenty of this stuff and I’m going to use it to replace the intake filters on my other PC because it’s so easy to remove for cleaning. Much easier than the current thin foam filter and I suspect air flow will be improved. For £14.99 you get plenty of material so it’s good value. The fact that it can be cut to any size or shape means it can be used anywhere you want a dust filter so it’s also versatile and I’m happy to recommend it and give it 5 stars

I bought this not knowing how big 1.2mm hole is and it turns out it is the same size as the built-in dust filter holes on my lian li 216 case so made it practically useless for me. It works because my case is filtering some dust for me currently but it is noticeable that fine dust is getting through. The magnetic strip seems to be strong enough and does stick to metal parts of the case.

I never thought I’d say that my new favorite PC mod would be dust filters. I raved about these all day - no joke. If care is used to cut in a straight line, these filters look like professionally-made custom pieces. The appearance is worthy of being fitted even to the outside of the PC case, being made of a stiff-yet-thin matte-black PVC material. The optional magnetic strips that are included are easily cut to fit any shape filter, and the adhesive is good and strong. The adhesive side of the magnetic strip is designed to be applied to the filter itself, so that the magnetic side may attach to a metallic surface. One way I installed these filters is fitting them between the case and the intake fans, leaving off the magnets and punching holes to accommodate the fan screws. The clean and professional look is very pleasing to the eye. The air flow is not severely restricted, but my filters are already performing great - catching dust and small particles of junk that would otherwise be circulated through my PC case. For perspective, one sheet is about as tall as a normal PC case, and twice as wide. And you get FOUR whole sheets, and SIXTEEN magnetic strips. It’s more than enough material for one PC, and if one gets creative, filters can be made for box fans or A/C vent registers in the floor or wall to keep dust from flying around one’s home. An aerator can be made for sink faucets or shower heads. A barrier can be made for a hamster or reptile cage. I imagine it can also be used for pattern sewing and needlework. The creative uses for this product beyond the intended ways are numerous. I can certainly attest to the awesome value and potential of this bundle, and I can’t recommend it enough. There’s a good chance some custom-made and visually-pleasing dust filters will be your new favorite PC modification too!

The quality of the plastic is superb, looks and feels almost like a very slim perforated metal. The magnets aren't very strong, but more than enough for holding the weight of the mesh. Very good at taking precision cuts, overall a perfect solution.
