CLIF BUILDERS - Protein Bars - Cinnamon Nut Swirl - 20g Protein - Gluten Free (2.4 Ounce, 12 Count)

I've eaten these bars for years. In late 2019, the bars became more difficult to find. I then learned that they changed from using whey protein to using soy. As you can see from other reviewers, plant-based protein tastes different from whey protein which is derived from dairy milk. There are several plant-sourced protein products available, some made from alfalfa, or peas, peanuts, and the list goes on. Clif decided to go with soy.It's well known that plant-based proteins are often less flavorful than whey protein products, which is why so many people have given negative reviews. Switching from whey to plant-based can result in a dramatic taste difference.So is this product as bad as some are making it out to be? The flavor isn't as bad, for me it's the texture. These bars are now more dry and harder than they used to be, kind of unpleasant in that regard.I appreciate Clif trying to find a more sustainably sourced protein and moving away from animal byproducts (dairy), but if they were still aiming for a good tasting and textured bar, they have sorely missed their target.The main reason I was a Clif bar loyalist, is because of the vitamin and mineral content. It's hard to find as nutritious of a protein bar as Clif has made for many years. Few other brands provide protein bars with anything more than just protein. The brand Snickers actually used to make a protein bar that also had vitamins and minerals added, though I haven't seen them now for years. Perhaps they quit making them.So, your decision should consider the fact that Clif bars are now made with soy protein, they taste very different than they used to when they were made with whey (dairy). The texture is now more dry and hard/crunchy. The nutritional value has not been depleted by the protein source change, these bars still have a high vitamin and mineral content, which is hard to find in other protein bars. Make your decision with those considerations in mind.

One of the only nutrition bars that don’t make my allergies flare. Sometimes they are a bit grainy but the flavor makes up for it (a glass of milk is good, too)

My fave Clif BB to date. Previously ate the Cookies and Cream around heavy workouts. Great texture and coating - like a real candy bar but much denser. I love anything cinnamon flavored and this tastes just like dessert. Will buy again.

Love these Builder's bars. Have not found a flavor I don't like. Best protein bar I have found.

I didn’t even open or taste the bars. I purchased them because they said “low glycemic”. However as you can see from the pic I posted there are a total of 30 carbs less 1 gram of fiber means 29 Net Carbs! 29!!! According to the Low Glycemic Foundation women should have 25 and men 29 grams FOR THE ENTIRE DAY!!! If I’m going to burn thru 25 grams of carbs in a day it won’t be by eating what amounts to a candy bar pretending to be a low GI - protein bar! Then when I called Cliff Bars Corporate Office in Canada to discuss this I got the run around even trying to get to Customer Service. These are going back to Amazon and it Looks like I’m going back to Adkins Bars.

These are some of the very few protein bars on the market that I have found without sugar alcohols. I'm sensitive to sugar alcohols and eating something with them give me stomach cramps and diarrhea. Builder's bars don't have that problem and provide a good dose of post-workout protein.

It was very good. I can only have like one every couple days because they are sweet as hell but they are really good. And the package is a much better deal than buying them individually.
