Just what I needed!
What a brilliant book. I'm usually quite skeptical about books offering guidance and advice as I tend to find that they state the obvious and therefore I don't learn anything new. This book has changed my opinion.Whilst there were elements that I already knew and practiced, there were plenty of others that I didn't (or, that I didn't have the confidence to try). There were also tips that seemed quite obvious, but for some reason I wasn't doing them. Somehow having them explained in writing has helped me understand them better, and have the desire to try them. With its mix of tips, suggestions and advice from other successful makers, I've been given the boost I needed to re-engage with my craft and its audience. Excited to see what lies ahead!

Everything you need to know in one book!
This book covers everything you could possibly want to know about selling your handmade crafts, whether at local fairs or online, or both.It is filled with great advice from the very basics - simple ideas which leave you thinking 'why didn't I think of that?' - to much more complicated stuff like creating a website or a blog (which I did after reading the book and didn't realise how easy it would be).I can't praise this book enough. I found it really inspiring because lots of the ideas are really easy to put into practice. All you need is a little time and a little effort.Highly recommended!

Well produced
This book is beautifully produced with lovely illustrations. It is an easy read with some good tips. I probably should have read the details better as I didn't realise it was American so not as relevant as a British book would be for me.

Great advice in a fun but serious style
I adore this book. I chose this and Craft, Inc (also good) to get some advice about making the most of my Etsy shop. THM is full of brilliant tips that seem so obvious you'll wonder why you didn't think of them. The book is very up-to-date with information on using social media and marketing strategies as well as the business basics. I particularly liked the sections with input from well-known crafty businesspeople, such as reps from Etsy and Ravelry.I would definitely recommend this book and have done already to all of my crafty entrepreneur friends!

VERY UP TO DATE INFORMATION
THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK OF THIS TYPE I HAVE READ. I FOUND IT VERY INFORMATIVE. I HAVE ALWAYS MADE CRAFT ITEMS FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND AM NOW PREPARING TO SELL ONLINE SO THIS BOOK GAVE ME ALL THE INFO I NEEDED. IT IS BANG UP TO DATE WITH SECTIONS ON PODCASTING, BLOGS ETC AS WELL AS NUMEROUS TIPS FOR SELLING AT CRAFT FAIRS AND ONLINE, IT IS A THOROUGH READ, NOT LIGHTWEIGHT.

Great help
Nice book to guide you through setting up as a real 'seller' rather than just the odd craft fair. Is from USA so some things are not relevant regarding the tax system etc.Still a good buy and gives others experience.

Bought for a gift
Given as a Christmas gift for a homemade enthusiast who already produces and sells her own cards. This book was fully appreciated and has been put to good use.

Great introduction for handmade & craft businesses!
I love the suggestions and stage process Kari details in the book. While this is seemingly outdated, as technology advanced so quickly (i.e. there aren't strategies related to Apps, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.), it is a great foundation to understanding handmade business practices. There are some great resources listed in the index, however, some links have been deleted to due bloggers deleting their accounts. I would probably buy one of Kari's current books in general, unless you're a complete newbie. Another plus, the delightful illustrations in the book are from one of my favourite Etsy sellers The Black Apple.

Utilissimo.

So helpful!
One of the most informative works I've read so far in terms of handmade marketing has to be The Handmade Marketplace: How to Sell Your Crafts Locally, Globally, and On-Line by Kari Chapin. Not only is this book beautifully illustrated, the information is presented in a way that makes marketing actually quite interesting and understandable. How to decide if your craft is in demand, how to set up your online presence, how to build your brand, even how to get involved in selling your creations at local fairs and markets - it's all here. While I'm no book reviewer - nor do I really feel the need to try to be - once I read this book, I knew I had to tell people about it. I first handed my copy off to Alex (a fellow misc*maker, whom you shall meet soon) as she was just beginning to sell her crochet masterpieces. Next, the book was passed to Elizabeth, another collaborator here. pssst - Liz, give me back my book. Now I've taken my praise to the internet - Do you see what you've done, Kari Chapin?! What I'm getting at here is that if you're interested in learning how to market your work as an artisan, this book will definitely take the edge off that big "M" word - Marketing. If you're on the search for a sort of text book for crafty business models and resources, I'd highly suggest taking a look at this book. This book is definitely my friend :)
