Betty Dain Shampoo Hair Funnel

I recently bought the Betty Dain shampoo hair funnel and boy............. what a difference it makes!My mother has recently become disabled and wheelchair bound, she wanted her hair washed on a daily basis, but leaning her head back over a sink was not the easiest or the most comfortable thing to do - plus the water seemed to go everywhere!!!When we tried out the hair funnel - it was amazing! we both couldn't believe how easy it was to use! it made life so much easier for my mum and also myself.There are however a few tricks to it, which i learnt over the space of a couple of days- get yourself a headband to hold the hair up and out of the way - as otherwise your spending half your time trying to get stray hairs through the elastic seal- Watch out for the ears as you are putting the funnel on, as they can be painful getting caught.- use a couple of towels on the shoulders - as some water can still get out.- when washing near to the ears, hold a towel to the ear area as the water can sometimes leak a little.All in all you get the hang of it, and everyone (even my mothers occupational therapists) were commenting on it and asking me to show them how to use it, so they could get some for other patients in hospital!I would recommend this to anyone, it is a brilliant tool and has made mine and my mothers life so much easier - plus the price isnt too bad either!!

i have been looking for a way to properly wash my very infirm fathers hair and this is great. i sit dad in his wheelchair with his back against the bathroom sink, the elasticated part fits as tightly as is comfortable around the hairline above his ears and secured with the velcro fastening, making sure the plastic lip is raised up. the funnel part goes down into the sink making sure again the edges of the funnel are up. i practiced putting it on before the wash. i was able to shampoo and give dads hair a really good rinse, the water just ran straight down the funnel into the sink. dad did not even have to put his head back. there was a small amount of water leakage through the velcro fastener while rinsing the front of his head but he held a flannel there to catch the drips. this has been the first decent hairwash dad has had for many months and i am so pleased to have found this funnel and at such a good price. as it is made of soft plastic you just hang it up to dry then fold it away in a drawer

I work in a residential home as lead hair dresser, I have quite a few clients ,who are in wheelchairs ,so I thought this would be idealBut I have to agree with other people on their reviews, it is too small to go around head,let alone people's necks,then if you position it carefully across shoulders water runs down front, I wish I hadn't rushed to buy it and checked the reviews first ,waste of money.

I brought this for my clients that have little movement in a wheelchair to lean forward or backwards with a neck tray to wash their hair. Has to fit tight, which it does and it feels too tight for some to stand the pressure around the head. Managed to do 1 shampoo could do with being a bit longer the funnel part if no sink only bath available. The idea very good and might improve with use hopefully not too the point it leaks. well worth a try as having hair washed can make you feel so much better. Everybody's head circumferences are different and people have different pressure thresholds.

It partially solves the problem of getting water and soap in the eyes and ears of an elderly person I look after when I wash her hair (she cant tip her head back) but it does inevitably leak a bit. I probably should do the velcro fastening tighter but she doesnt like that very much. Anyway, I am quite pleased with it.

This product is excellent for bed-ridden patients, or people who don't like getting their face wet whilst having their hair washed. This is the second one I have bought for my mother. Whilst she was bed ridden, she could lay near the top of the bed and the water would just run out into the bowl placed at that end. We had no spillages and everyone was happy. Even the district nurses were impressed and asked where to get them from.Now my mum is just in a wheel chair and we can sit her in her wheel chair, push her into the bathroom, put this around her head and the water doesn't go on her, or her clothes, as the product description, it is a funnel and directs the water to wherever you want it to go.Excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Although this looks easy to use on the model in the photograph it doesn't work well with someone who is unable to hold up their head well (the reason it was bought in the 1st place). ALSO the seal created by the elastic around the head is very poor and the water proceeded to flood over the face and neck and soak the clothing underneath, despite being extremely well protected. I tried a number of ways to improve the fit , all unsuccesful, there must surely be a better way to secure it to the head maybe a soft rubber strip would be better.

This is a really good product. It has been difficult to wash my Mum's hair as she has dementia & won't let anyone wash it in the usual way (under a shower, in the wash basin etc). However, I managed it today perfectly first time without her even having to get out of the wheelchair. Although the hair funnel seemed a little tight where it fixes around the face at first, once I'd stretched the product a bit, it seemed very comfortable for Mum. I definitely would recommend this product.

I'm confined to a wheelchair and this product has been a lifesaver. Washing my hair was very problematic until we found this. It makes it so easy and mess free Love it. Recommend for anyone who has difficulty leaning back or over a sink.

The product is too tight for some heads.

I have used this one and another one that is supposed to do the same thing. At first glance they look the same. They arent. The Betty Dain one is much better. I work in a nursing home and have to shampoo people who cant move out of a wheel chair. It's very difficult not to get someone wet under the circumstances. So, this product has 100% worked. Water with gravity goes down. That's inevitable. This works with care. I give the client a towel for their face and rinse/shampoo with care. The fabric and velcro on this is soft and works. not too tight but tight enough. I still wrap my person in a plastic cape. This product works better than anything I've found for my need.
