The sides are slightly higher to protect the screen from scratches. I would recommend some type of screen protector. **Q: What type of screen protector can be add to band?** A: Hello. I don't think any kind of film type screen protector would interfere although I don't believe those types of products wouldn't introduce touch sensitivity issues. I do not use any with this band as it has raised edges around the screen which protects the screen from initial impact. I hope this helps! **Q: Will this be offered in alternate colors? ie green or charcoal** A: No just black I believe **Q: Is the band removable?** A: No. Only the watch. The case and band is one piece. The case/band has a buckle so you can remove from your wrist.
