New Gods: Yang Jian [Blu-ray]

..... this is wild. Yang Jian is the Chinese Fantasy-Steam-Punk-Mythology Version of "Cowboy Bebop" without feeling the need to lean to heavy into it's influence. Those who remember might also see the towering shadows of "Spelljammer". But at no time, unlike so many other movies that borrow themes and ideas from various influences, does Yang Jian become just a pale "remake". The wild mixture of it's obvious influences and the genuine ideas turn the movie into a beautiful world that stands it's own ground. As for the release: Dual format (DVD+Bluray), all solid. PS: I see now why Disney doesn't even try to compete in animation anymore. They never stood a chance against almighty Japan and now even China runs them over. Goodbye Disney animation.

My husband loved this movie

My kids are very much into anime, so I took the off chance that they might like this too. It was a big hit! They enjoyed the storyline, the graphics, and the artistic style of the illustrator. Will definitely buy more like this.

I watched the English version, which worked well. The animation is well done. The story was not hard to follow, although reading what seemed to be an endless series of place names got a bit tiresome. Note that, if this is based on something else, those names might be meaningful to those familiar with them. And it had a lot of action.

Love these type of movies.

Superior animation really pops off screen! plenty of action

It was regoin locked which I expected but the DVD worked fine on my external disc drive. Came in quick, quality was good (the case got stuck to a sticker on the box cover which was funny) but no issues. Poster was cool too. It's a shame this isn't more popular in Australia but I'm glad I managed to get it.
