Review: Easy guide to AI applications - Okay, so I wanted an easy guide to what AI applications are all about and how they worked This Chat GPT Gide goes from the basic concept to how AI applctions gather data and rapidly integrate it I have reasonable technical expertise but didn’t really know how AI worked this clear and easy to follow guide explains the fundamentals in clear English. Very good for basic understanding and learning Review: Sadly didn't ease comprehension. - Suspect it covers need to know, but don't expect instant enlightenment (and I'm a scientist). Others say we're sleepwalking into a machine intelligent age and I agree. Wanted to know more tho the book is generally OK, it doesn't educate much. Maybe it will illuminate why you shouldn't trust AI summaries which now plague the likes of Google - select what it thinks best, ignores the rest.

Good information but poor diagrams
I read this in a few hours and has some really good tips on how to get the most out of ChatGPT. However, it is a small book (approximately A5 size) so the diagrams/figures contained in each chapter are VERY small and I couldn’t read what was included within the illustration which is a shame.

Does what is say in the headlines
For someone who does not know the first thing about AI I found this book very informative and helped in me with a better understanding of how AI works.

Not like other 'for dummies' range
I was bitterly disappointed by this book, i was expecting something like 'leadership' for dummies or M&A for dummies which i have previously brought, and found remotely useful, the print quality on this was poor, the visuals were blurry and to be frank i didn't really get anything out of it that wasn't already available on online tit bits save your money sorry not sorry

This book is a useful first book on getting to grips with understanding and using ChatGPT.
Conclusion This book aims to introduce you to ChatGPT, and certainly succeeds. The content is generally easy to read and interesting (the author is a journalist), with a good outline of what ChatGPT is, some of its uses, how it works, how to get more out of it, how it may affect certain industries, and its place in the wider world of AI. That said, there are a few irritations. Some of the images are difficult to read, even when enlarged. Additionally, there is a degree of repetition. The key to successful use of ChatGPT is writing effective prompts, and the book pivots around this. In many ways ChatGPT acts as a junior assistant, producing very useful initial results, but the output needs to be fact-checked. ChatGPT is a rapidly evolving technology, and already the book contains some dated material (the book was released in May 2023). Currently, you might get the best results by using ChatGPT via Bing, since it can use more up to date information, uses the latest version of ChatGPT, offers references where it obtained its information, and can be ‘free’ (if you have an Office 365 subscription) – rather than pay the $20 monthly fee to OpenAI to use the latest version. Some AI researchers have suggested ChatGPT, while useful, may ultimately be a dead-end in the search for true AI. Some of the problems with the ChatGPT approach, together with an alternative approach is given in an interesting TED talk by Yejin Choi with the title : Why AI is incredibly smart and shockingly stupid. This book is a useful first book on getting to grips with understanding and using ChatGPT, and how it may impact the future. It is sure to get you thinking about how your life could be enhanced by using ChatGPT.

It's a bit disappointing, if I'm being honest
I finished this book earlier today and, to be honest, I didn't teach me much. Most disappointingly, I learnt nothing specific about how to use ChatGPT in terms of prompt engineering. This is all especially poor when one consider the "for Dummies" series as a 'brand' I previously trusted.

Tiny booklet, little content
I was expecting a decent amount of content like other "for dummies" guides, but I was surprised to receive more than a book, a booklet with very superficial content. Definitely not worth the money.

Complicated topic and a reasonable explanation of what I'm can and cannot do
This book helped me understand what ChatGPT is. I keep seeing this in various media but had no idea of what it was or what it can do. This book was very helpful to translate complex computerized thinking , code writing, and use into understandable information for on computer people. Recommend this as a way to understand how computers are going to reshape our future everyday life.
