Forever - Complete Series

Having been a fan of Ioan Gruffudd since his callow youth as Horatio Hornblower, I was very pleased to stumble upon this very enjoyable series where he again took a lead role, this time as Dr Henry Morgan, an immortal working for the NYPD as Medical Examiner.Although not normally liking shows in the fantasy crime drama genre, I struggle to find enough superlatives to describethe quality of Forever. It is quirky, serious, with funny moments and yet enough gravitas to hold one's attention.Whenever Henry is killed he is reborn in water, a form of baptism and rebirth to a new life. The flashbacks to his previouslife/lives are well done giving a continuity that is appealing to watch.Whilst all eyes are on Henry Morgan as the ME with Sherlockian traits, the show is very much an ensemble piece with allof the cast playing their roles superbly. I particularly liked Joel David Moore's portrayal as Lucas and Judd Hirsch was justbrilliant as Henry Morgan's son.Sadly I learn that Series 2 was cancelled, and I can only join with thousands of other disappointed fans and cast and ask"Why destroy something that is so good?". Having watched the 'flashbacks' on Henry Morgan's previous lives, they toocould have been made into a great standalone series.I hope that some other network will buy the rights to make a second series.Forever, has become one of my favourite viewing experiences.Released on Warner Bros DVD22 episodes of 40 minutes eachOn 5 discs.

Can't for the life of me understand why people want 10 seasons of CSI, CSI New York, CSI LA, NCIS etc etc. but those same people don't like this brilliant show.I can only assume the twist of his immortality throw the average dumb viewer off, or force them to pay more attention than usual.The flashbacks to his days centuries ago are a fantastic spice to a good crime show, not sloppy or hurried. Every scene seems like great care was taken to make each one real and detailed. Add the great actors and you have one of the best TV shows I've seen.They knew it only got 1 season in time to end the show properly, for what it's worth.

Why oh why was there not a 2nd series..... shame on you America !!!!Especially with the drivel we normally have to endure on our channels from you.This is an excellent series from start to finish.... I was absolutely gutted when I heard it was being cancelled

Very odd. I was afraid I'd bought one I wouldn't be able to understand but no, I popped it in and it was fine. Would be nice if I could read the case, but the contents are of rather more value so I'm not too fussed.

No sé cuántos años tenía cuando vi el primer episodio de esta serie y me enganchó, sin embargo WB la canceló después de la primera temporada :(Ahora como adulto joven XD ya por fin pude comprarla para terminar de verla.Ahora solo llevo 5 episodios y se me hace más o menos (creo que ya sé porqué la cancelaron). El personaje principal no está bien trabajado, en ocasiones parece un tanto ridículo cómo resuelve los casos ya que "lo sabe todo". Después de varios episodios ya se siente bastante trillado.No mucha gente va a ver esta reseña pero al menos ya cerré un capítulo de las cosas que me perdí en la infancia/adolescencia al encontrar a la venta esta serie.

Forever ist die beste amerikanische Fernsehserie (GoT wird in Europa produziert, primär Nordirland). Allerdings wird es Leute geben, die die Serie über einen arbeitslosen Chemielehrer vorziehen werden. Auf den ersten Blick ist Forever die 1001 Serie über einen Gerichtsmediziner. Auf diesem Gebiet gibt es schon zuviel, was aber nicht vor von Forever abhalten soll. Denn Forever ist eine Serie über einen Mann, der nicht Tod bleibt, und den Problemen, die daraus folgen. Weiterhin ist er überzeugter Arzt. Aufgrund seiner Lebenserfahrung sieht der Protagonist vieles aus einer historischen Perspektive. Gerade die Rückblicke erläutern, dass vieles schon da war. Völlig atypisch ist, dass inhaltlich die Geschilderten Gegebenheit auf den ersten Blick nicht falsch sind. Wir reden hier von Amerikanischem, wo Eis auf den Meeresgrund sinkt.Weiterhin ist die Serie außerordentlich gut besetzt. Der Gegensatz von britischem Gentleman und amerikanischen Polizisten in Sprache und Verhalten gibt eine besondere Note. In der obligatorischen Nazifolge ist das, was Deutsch sein soll, wenig überraschend, weitgehend unverständlich (im O-Ton). Das es keine weiter Staffel geben wird, überrascht nicht. Mir war das nach der Pilotfolge klar.Warum gibt es das nicht als blu-ray? Die Umsetzung auf DVD ist lieblos und billig. So sind die Werbepausen noch drin, wenn auch ohne Werbung. Und wenn ein Folge zu lang war, wird so lange daran rumgeschnippelt, das es passt. Ein paar Schnipsel finden sich auf den DVDs. Da bei einer DVD-Ausgabe keine derartige Lauflängenbeschränkung herrscht, hätten diese integriert sein sollen. Manchen Handlungsabläufe hätten die ergänzenden Szenen gut getan. Weiterhin ist die Abspielbarkit sehr schlecht. So stürzt die Wiedergabe bei jedem Sprung oder Spulen ab. Dies ist der Dank, wenn es käuflich erworben wird. Da die Serie so gut ist, gibt es trotzdem fünf Sterne.
