A New Reformation: Creation Spirituality and the Transformation of Christianity

Matthew Fox in abbeviated form
Fox discusses the full range of his previous work in this slim volume. I found the background material more helpful in setting the framework for his 95 theses than the actual theses. Although the actual theses offered much to consider, point by point,as well. It is refreshing and necessary to listen to voices of dissent. It is necessary, also, to dream and create new realities. Fox inspires and challenges all, not just the institutional church, but all people of faith to lean further into their belief and thus transform our world.

Matthew Fox'sCase for Needed Reformation
Matthew Fox is not for the faint-hearted or those who know what they know because they know it. He will challenge beliefs and makes his own case for what he sees as the church's (mostly Roman Catholic, but Protestant too) inability to live what he considers should be modern day religion. Much as Martin Luther did before him, Fox nails his own principles for reformation on the same door as Luther.

Not what I expected. I wanted more about "Creation Spirituality" but there was only a passing mention of that, and no real explication. It is interesting to read all this ten years after publication and see how little has happened and how little has changed.

How can such a huge ego enlighten anyone?
I thought that an ex-monk (especially one expelled by a rogue pope) would write something spiritually uplifting, in the same tradition as Thomas Merton, Bede Griffiths, John Main, Laurence Freeman, Richard Rohr, etc. Some of his 95 theses make sense, most read like some cheap New Age stuff. It’s clear this chap is not enlightened/liberated, as his ego is still gigantic and his anger still raging.

A heart opening read
Matthew Fox is always a step ahead on creative thinking. He expands our vision while tying to history. If your spiritual self wants to be challenged, read this book m

Very thought provoking for one who is trying to make sense of what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century

great
Fox's "New Reformation" is an excellent, concise, typically bold statement for Fox of the many themes running through contemporary Christian theology: democracry against hierarchy, gender equality against patriarchy, ecology against dominion over nature, etc. Highly recommended.

Fox in a nutshell
Book in better quality than advised by seller. Ultra-fast service and delivery. Would recommend this seller. I needed this book for researching its Fox's own modern-day 95 Theses (echoing Luther's). His Introduction and opening two chapter provide helpful background. His critics will see his 3rd chapter as an attack on many C21 'fundamentalisms'. His 4th capter/epilogue form a useful summary of Fox's current thought for his regular readers.

Some provoking ideas and thoughts
Good book, helpful and useful information. For those who aren't sure about their current relationship with the Catholic church, this could help to clarify it.

A real eye opener. Well written and thoroughly believable. Certainly got me thinking. Every now and then the right book appears at the right time for the reader. This was it for me.

The New Reformation?
The point is well made for a new reformation of the Christian Church. All the previous 'baggage' has been examined and discarded. It's new, well argued and exciting but will it happen. It will if enough people want it.
