I first heard the music of Yusuf/Cat Stevens when I was in junior high school, and I've love it ever since. His music is timeless, and sounds as relevant today as it did when it was first released. It's difficult to create a definitive collection, with each person's favorite song included, but I think this album comes the closest.

Cat Stevens is perhaps my favorite musician but the sound quality of the CD I got was such that I can't listen to it, and yet there are all of these great reviews, so I am really puzzled. When I played the first song, I thought there must be a mistake and I had accidentally purchased an album of covers of Cat Stevens songs...it didn't even sound like him to me. The music seemed to be drowning him out... the effect was very unpleasant. I don't know enough about sound to understand all the reasons why the music sounded bad, but it did. I recently ordered about 5 or 6 CDs, including two by Cat Stevens and the sound quality on all of them except this one was perfect. I have no idea why my experience has been so much different than other's. Amazon customer service graciously refunded my purchase price.Of the CDs I ordered, three of the CD cases were cracked, with one of them cracked in such a way that the case falls apart when opened. The music is great (except for this one) so I'm keeping them, but if intact, unmarred cases are important to you, you should know that this was a problem. I don't want to say that without saying that I am a huge Amazon fan and I think their packaging of most things I have received has been excellent. I love that you can get just about anything under the sun at Amazon, I love Amazon Prime, and I think their customer service is bar none.

I'm not a big Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam now) fan. However, I am a huge fan of Harold & Maude, the movie that uses a lot of great Cat Stevens' songs. Tea for the Tillerman has many of the songs used in the movie, but it didn't have a few that I've been looking for for a long time. This Gold compilation has the "missing" Harold & Maude songs I've been looking for (but you'll still need Tea ftT or other sources for all the H & M movie songs).

I've gotten CDs from this "Gold" series before and they've always been a good cross section of the artist's songs and this compilation is no exception. Between the two CDs there is every song i was looking for. I read the reviews before ordering and, unlike one reviewer, i think the sound quality is very good. I don't think the music overtakes the vocals and this sounds as good as the original releases.

This is an excellent CD great collection of music from a great artist.
