Sharp el-344rb Pocket Calculator (Pocket, Scientific Calculator, 10 Digits, Black, White)

For decades I owned a calculator that featured quick Imperial/metric conversions, and in spite of the fact that there are now many internet sites for doing such calculations, I always found a separate calculator indispensable. Mine recently died of old age, and finding a replacement was surprisingly difficult: presumably there is no longer much of a market for them. This one is exactly what I required, small, efficient and easy to use.

On my third. No criticism, they have all had good use and ultimately the most used buttons need a good prod to work. But they are a terrific means of converting imperial to metric and vice versa. The fact that they have been making them unchanged for so long speaks volumes.... Bratza

Neat metric conversion calculator with all the that I need on it but not cheap and used to be available at a third of the price. Getting harder to get now. Small keys but pocket sized.

Absolutely vital for conversions

This is my second Sharp 344rb Calculator from This Company. I purchased this one as a spare as I like these so much. I cannot find this particular model anywhere else. It is simple to use and compact. I cannot fault it. 5*

good product but difficult for OAP to operate

I have had 3 of these. They last approx 5 years under daily use, being carried around in a briefcase. Always come back to buy again. Excellent product.

Wow! This Sharp EL344RB calculator does everything. It can actually calculate fractions. And it can mix decimals with fractions. It also has metric and USA measurement conversions as well as foreign currency buy / sell conversion. For a small calculator it has a large display. Many other calculators loose their currency conversion entries after they time out. Not this one. You can pick it up 2 days later and it still has your foreign conversion detail in memory. It also has a constant multiplicand - great for figuring your net pay without repeatedly entering the Gross amount. It has dual power and comes with a nice folding vinyl case. This is not a complicated device. Some of the features are not intuitive, but within 30 minutes you can learn all of the features. No engineering degree from MIT required. Any 12yr old with a half a brain can use this, It's quite accurate.it's calculations are always correct. In fact it's a great toy. I'm always trying to fool it. For the price, a bargain, without having to drag out my laptop or tablet and call up the correct apps. I wholeheartedly recommend this calculator.

It did the job well. One unexpected feature was the ability to set up a currency conversion. I'm going for a 12 month trip along the Andes range and each country has a different currency. The calculator will be very useful.

This is a normal calculator with the addition of many function buttons for converting between metric and imperial measurements, e.g., square meters to square feet, liters to gallons, km to miles, lbf./sq. inch to kilopascals, Fahrenheit to Celsius, kilocalories to kilojoules, and many others. This involves pressing the number in question, a to metric or from metric key, and the function key appropriate to the conversion desired; a bit awkward but reasonably quick anyway. There are 22 different conversions available (though one I would have liked that wasn't there was lbf. to newtons). The calculator itself is both solar and battery powered and has basic math functions, though it would have been more useful to me if it had an ability to do exponents other than square roots. As it is, a nice device to have handy, especially if you find a scientific calculator too complicated.
