Beautiful and Haunting
I liked everything about this film. I could see how the tone of it might not appeal to some, but it appealed to me. The film is dark, tragic and absolutely exquisite. There's a sense of impending doom that lingers over most of the film, and considering Emily Bronte's early death, the subtle feeling of that doom seems very fitting. Frances O'Connor first outing as a writer and a director is a brilliant one. Emma Mackey is wonderful in every way as Emily Bronte. The score is gorgeous. Abel Korzeniowski is one of my favorite film composers, and he was a great choice. I saw one negative review referred to the intimate scenes as smut. It's ironic that this sort of judgemental attitude is the very cause of these types of tragic stories. And I'm not sure how a story about this kind of passion can be told without those scenes. I found them to be tasteful and generally understated in this film.

Loved it!
Absolutely pulls you in! Afterwards I researched Emily Bronte a little more and even though the film takes lots of liberties it feel like her life through her novel Wuthering Hieghts. Beautifully tragic!

A Poetic Masterpiece
Though Frances O'Connor's script is an imagined look at Emily Brontë's life it captures the spirit of her "unchained soul".Emma Mackey's performance is a stunningly heartfelt interpretation of a woman that was ahead of her time. She is both haunting and inspiring in her role and is supported by a stellar cast. This is a brilliantly written, directed, performed and filmed work of art.For the hopelessly romantic, I highly recommend.

A Mood!
I absolutely loved this movie! Yes, it’s a majorly fictional account of the Brönte sisters and their family, but the actors, costumes, and cinematography does it great justice. If you’re looking for a faithful biopic, this will no be it. This film is like a moody, rainy, poignant dream. It’s beautifully shot; every scene could be framed as a painting. I cannot wait to add this to my collection once the DVD is released!

Who was this film about?
This was not about Emily Bronte. This was a ridiculous film. While I can allow some artistic license when it comes to making a film about a historical figure, this film completely fictionalized Emily Bronte's life. While this is a drama and not meant to be a biographical documentary, people unfamiliar with Bronte will take this as fact. What an incredible disappointment this film was.

An utter misrepresentation of the Brontes
Whether the movie is good or bad, well-directed, well-acted or beautifully shot or not, I don't even care. I can't see past the horrific misrepresentation of the family dynamic, the relationship between the siblings, the historical facts that are way off... If you want to make up things, write about fictional characters. Charlotte's outbursts at Emily is downright horrifying and I can imagine her turning in her grave. No peaceful slumber for her after this load of nonsense, that's for sure. I just hope people who want to know about the family and the birth of Wuthering Heights will go and read biographies and forget about this mess.

Part fictional but a good movie.
Emma Mackey is worth watching and she dresses really nice if you're into Victorian movies.

One for Wuthering Heights' Fans
Beautifully filmed, music is sublime, costumes authentic, wonderful to see the interior of Haworth Parsonage, the church. But, oh dear: a major gaffe is when Emily receives the first copies of her WH, the title page is printed with her name when it was published under her pen name of Ellis Bell. How this major mistake got overlooked is unbelievable. Worth a look, though, as it is interesting to see scenes where Emily may have got her inspiration for WH - that was well done by the director Francis O'Connor.

Historiquement inexact
