I had heard that this product when used as directed in a fabric medium and allowed to cure for a minimum of 5 days would make fabric paint mediums wash fast without heat setting and leave a softer feel. I had excellent results. Only a small percent of the fixer added to fabric mediums such as setacolor, setasilk, angelus or pebeo fabric paints, and used quickly, within an hour of adding, worked as described. I let the paint air dry, cure in a warm room for 6 days, washed in cold water, synthrapol detergent, gentle cycle, used a small amount of milsoft fabric softener in the rinse, hung to dry until slightly damp, tumble dried for a few minutes and removed promptly. The paint did not appear to fade at all and the soft hand of the rayon fabric had only a barely noticeable change in the painted areas. This is a better feel than I have had with heat setting and with much less work even if you do need to wait several days to fully cure.

For a home DIY silk-screener of my band's t-shirts and not wanting to iron, heat press, or having a conveyor dryer, this is perfect for me. I usually do between 2-3 dozen shirts at a time. I hang each one on a hanger and let them air dry over night. After doing about 100 or so shirts altogether, this product has helped me out a lot. Be sure to follow the mixing instructions -I use about a cap-full of the fixer for 16oz of ink and have had great results.

Versatex Fixer is an additive for inks and paints. It helps your ink or fabric paint to set more permanently into the fabric. It increases wash fastness -- so your t-shirt designs won't fade when you wash them. This fixer makes it possible to set the ink without having to use heat (no more heat presses and irons...yea!). Setting paint with the No Heat Fixative makes the paint softer and less "plastic" than paints set with irons and heat presses. For example you only need to add up to 3 parts to 100 parts of ink or paint. In other words, you only need to add 1-to-3 tsp per pint of ink or paint. There is no need to add more than this. Thoroughly mix the fixer into your ink. It lasts 8-to-12 hours. After that you can more fixer to your paint or ink to recharge it. After applying ink or paint to fabric, allow it to air dry 4-6 days before washing or exposing to water.This fixer is specifically designed for adding to Speedball, Jacquard, and Versatex Screen Printing Inks.
