Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens - Sony E Mount

The Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN lens has completely transformed my photography and videography experience. From the very first shot, I could tell this lens was something special. The sharpness is simply outstanding—even wide open at f/1.4, the details are crisp and vivid, with gorgeous background separation that gives every image a professional, cinematic feel.The autofocus is fast, silent, and incredibly accurate, making it perfect for both stills and video work. Low-light performance is another major highlight—this lens handles dim environments beautifully without compromising image quality. The build feels solid and premium, yet it’s lightweight enough to carry around comfortably on long shoots.

I Love This lens.However I am not a camera guy so I'm not sure of all the technical details.What I will tell you is that this lens is a monster in low light because of its f1.4.Also, it gets quite sharp too! Now on an APSC its more like a 22-24mm but it still gets decently wide enough for you to be using for vlogging.It doesnt have any zoom capabilities obviously as its a prime lens and its quite chunky - not as portable as one would hope. It has an electronic focus ring - as well as autofocus which is really fast and snappy. There's no stabilsation either, but catalyst browse will usually sort that out for you in post.It's perfect for streaming, vlogging, and general content creation.Really happy with it.

The first thing you notice about this lens is how sharp image quality is. Colour reproduction is also excellent. I’ve had no issues with manual or auto focus and the build quality it fantastic. It will add bulk to your compact A6xxx camera, but this is a must have prime lens. Perfect for landscapes and semi-macro shots. Also great for street and portrait once you get used to it. Do take into account that this lens does not have built in image stabilisation though, which shouldn’t put you off it, but if you’re using it for video make sure your camera has in-body IS or that you use a gimbal. I must say this is probably the best lens in my collection to date.Very crisp picture qualityGreat smooth BokehFocusing ring is very smooth and feels high end.I bought this lens as it has been recommended by so many professionals out there and I am yet to be disappointed.The 1.4 f stop allows to take some fantastic night shots.10/10 would recommend this product for the price paid!Even when punching into a wide angle shot there is not a lot of degradation in the photo.

This lens is amazing for streaming. it is perfect for upper body shots, a great overall lens. im using it with a ZVE10-M2

Have read quite a few reviews as to which lens to go for with regards to taking astrophotographic pictures. Decided to go for this lens due to good reviews and low f number.So, this was primarily bought to take pictures of the northern lights when the opportunity arises but I also liked the idea of having a good low light performing prime lens and upon purchasing, I decided to try and take some pictures of the recent comet.The picture enclosed is that of Neowise and edited on an iPhone 6s but everything else is from the camera directly.Although I haven’t had too much chance to play with it I have been encouraged by what I have seen- as others have mentioned the focus ring is very sensitive and some kind of banding to hold this in place may be needed- I did find that several of my photos weren’t focused correctly and I’m hoping that’s due to this and not a defect with the lens.Another point to mention is that it is a heavier lens and something to keep in mind.I believe, as with most astrophotography photos, a lot of work is done post processing images to really make them stand out- I have not got the software to do this yet but I am still relatively pleased with the initial photos. I am also fairly new to all this so I probably haven’t got the settings just right yet either but hoping this proves to be a valuable lens for my a6500.

I am a youtuber and don’t know lots about lenses so when I accidentally smashed the kit lens from my Sony A5100 I had some learning to do!Initially I was considering a new camera as I do want to upgrade it but after research decided as on a budget I’d get more benefit from a lens instead.I film in a small room and made the mistake a few years ago to buy a 50mm that I couldn’t use due to lack of space so I knew I wanted something smaller than that. I also wanted a larger aperture as I wanted to achieve a blurry background something I couldn’t get on a 3.5f kit lens.Money is tight so initially went for the cheapest option - a manual 35mm 1.7f manual lens. I bought it on eBay for £45! The reality was using it for YouTube was really frustrating. I struggled to see peaking on my tiny monitor and I couldn’t get live view on my computer with my camera model. I film talking head and tutorials. I did a dry run thinking it was on focus and it was out of focus the whole time!So decided to bite the bullet and pay for this lens! It was a real investment for me and seemed like a lot to spend on a lens. I’ve had it a few hours and now I know it was totally worth it!I had a practice go today and the first thing I noticed was how much clearer the image was than my kit lens! With so much clarity I dyed my hair quickly to remove my greys lol!!!! Auto focus was good. There was a tiny bit of hunting once but overall very good. I loved how much nicer the picture looked generally and the colours the lens produced.Two things that I don’t love but neither are deal breakers. The first thing is the noise that the camera picks up from autofocus. If you rely on your camera audio with little to no editing this would be a deal breaker but using the denoise filter in premiere pro I was able to remove this noise. I’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade my audio through and have just purchased a yeti mic. The other negative is that there’s no stabilisation in the lens. This is particularly a problem for me as I have mild tremors but the camera will be used on a tripod anyway so no big deal. I may invest in a gimbal at a later date but no urgencySo I give it 4/5 stars and I’m very happy with my new purchase! I hope this helps someone as I didn’t see many reviews on here from a video pov.

I've had the Sigma 16mm F1.4 lens since July 2020 and it has never let me down. I've produced many excellent photos with it on my Sony a6000, and have no reason to doubt that I'll continue to do so well into the future. I don't know the current state of the lens market, so there may be something better now, but I do highly recommend this one.

An important lens to have with your Sony APS-C camera. Good sharpnessand super brightness; important in dark situations such as filming the night sky.
