Q: Would this be good for using to teach little ones who are just starting cartwheels....I have heard of people using a "Brick" and this similar?

Sure - it's pretty soft, and light -- but sturdy enough to support weight -- and the velcro keeps it pretty secure on the carpet. So you could either have them start on the floor on one side - place their hands on top of the block - and kick over to the other side. Or they could also start standing ontop - place their hands at one end - and kick over to land with their feet on the floor.
