SAS: Rogue Warriors (BBC) [DVD]

Good
This is the 'official' story as presented by Ben MacIntyre. Unfortunately it repeats the old story about David Stirling's importance in the creation of the SAS, largely igoring the crucial role played at the time by men like Bill Stirling and Paddy Mayne. Not a bad film and certainly enjoyable, but be aware it's not the full and true story.

Buy this if not for yourself, then for your children.
I knew many of these men especially my good friends Johnny & Reg. They will always have a place in the hearts of my family. If anyone made a movie based on what these men did people would say it was exaggerate, but that is what happened. They and their families sacrificed so much for all of us, and so we owe it to them to remember. This series of three programs gives a small insight into the full nature of their operations during WW2, but so much more is out their on record for anyone wanting it. It has taken many years for their stories to be told, and so it is good to see that in the past ten to twenty years authors have realised the real value of these men in establishing todays SAS, whom we all respect. Ben Macintyre comes across as someone who genuinly wants to put their story in the proper place, without the over the top drama and machio types that you see on tv shows of late and for that I thank him. These were just ordinary men from many different backgrounds brought together during a time in history when our country was on it's knees ......but they stood up. Thank you for our wonderful memories together......RIP.

Inspiring read.
Excellent documentary, well presented, informative and highly entertaining. Too see the actual men who served, talking about the events themselves some 40 years later was also very interesting. True hero's and brave men. Highly recommended.
