This is a great bit of kit to have with you, we all know what these things are and what they do.The filter functions as it should do, the compass is a bit pointless imo, since if you've prepped enough to have your water filter with you then you're likely to have your compass as well.It's great that it fits the standard bottle neck. What I feel lets it down is the water pouch. I received a clear pouch, not the one pictured.You have to find a balance between durability and ease of use I think, but the pouch is very inflexible, and dipping it in the river wasn't enough to fill it. I had to blow to inflate it, then squeeze the ends towards the centre to stop it wanting to fall flat again. It also isn't too big, probably around 300-350 ml at a guess.Great product but for that. That said, if you aren't going to use it that way, filtering from one receptacle to another then this won't be an issue for you

I went on a 4 day wild camping trip in Scotland's national park and took it with me. It was straight forward to use and worked perfectly!Granted if you drink directly from a stream you have to suck quite hard to get something through, however, as I usually filled up the pouch and squeezed the water into another bottle, it worked just fine!Compass does not work properly but that did not really come as a surprise and didn't matter too much for me! As the straw is what I was after, I am giving it 5/5!

Although I’ve not tested it out in the field yet, you can just tell that this is a quality package. First impressions are great, there’s a real survival pack feel about the kit, which is very appealing. Unlike similarly marketed items, this filter straw is more of a complete wilderness drinking system – it includes a pre-filter extension as well as the HydraMate folding water bottle, a great item in itself which I already own. The addition of a removable compass and signal mirror make this a great item for anyone outdoorsy, as well as those who like survival gear and prepping. The straw itself feels like a quality item and unlike other versions, this straw will filter out some heavy metals (with the “Standard” carbon filter model) which I think is a great plus. Attaching the straw to the bottle (or any standard size bottle thread) is really easy and means you can take the water with you without having to stop and filter it first, a great timesaving measure, plus you can use it to pour and filter water into another container. The pre-filter extension also means that you don’t have to lay on the ground if you want to drink from a lake! I've been looking for a filter straw for a while and I'm pleased I went with this one. All in all this is a great item and I can’t wait to take it out soon!

Haven't used the filter outdoors yet but works well in the kitchen sink. All items are well made and well packaged and fit together easily.The bag it arrives in has the instructions printed on the back and is resealable and waterproof so your items can be kept together.The collapsible bottle has a carabiner amd lanyard to hang from your bag/neck, which is useful, but could do with a hole at the bottom as well to hang upside down as a gravity water filter so that you can bottle clean water, rather than just drinking it through the straw.There is space to add this on the bottle so I will be doing this myself.

Does what it says on the tin. Very good product for very good price, compared to others on the market. It's really easy to use and compact enough to carry. And the added water bag is a bonus. Haven't taken it camping yet but tried it out with stagnant rain water from an old manky bucket at the bottom of the garden (I'm sure this isn't recommended by the manufacturer) and I must say, the filtered water actually tasted really good, clean and fresh. Looking forward to using it properly this weekend, weather permitting. Highly recommended.

Bought this for an attempt at running the Glyndwr Way with no overnight support. Topped water up from a stream and the water tasted fresh and no dodgy belly so all good

It is light and small perfect for hiking super it comes with its own water bladder plus tube to duck straightout of river easy to clean and use I love it,it is now an essential part of my kit oh if you don't use the bladder it fits many plastic bottles of you want to store some water for later I would definitely buy another if needed

Used whilst hiking the Carpathians and for the money you get a LOT of product! Really good purchase and excellent value for money! You can spend more money and get much less then this so save your pennies and get this!
