I was kindly sent a free sample of this product for honest reviewing purposes.* About getting these pens to write:These pens arrive with a completely colourless, dry tip. Getting the ink to flow to the tip is the first step before you can start writing with these. To get the ink to come to the top, you need to:1.) press the tip softly: it retracts a little into the pen when you press it. You can press it with you finger, or press it down on a piece of paper. Initially - this seems to do nothing, but the instructions on the pens say to do this to "release the pressure".2.) shake the pen well: When you shake it, it makes a clacking noise (it reminds me of old-fashioned gold pens I used to use when I was a kid). As you shake it, now that the pressure has been released in the tip from the initial press, every shake helps the ink flow to the tip, to colour the previously colourless tip with ink. You'll need to shake it quite a long time - a good 1-2 minutes - to get the tip to be filled with colour.* About the nibs:The nibs take a while to fill with ink and even when filled with colour, they still feel a little dry when you write with them on paper - kinda scratchy feeling. Though to be fair, these aren't intended for paper - they're inteded for non-porous surfaces and you don't notice the scratchy-feeling when you write on a whiteboard or glass. It's a little tricky to use the fine-edge of the nib, partly because on some of the pens, the fine-edge doesn't fill up well with ink, so doesn't write. The nib doesn't seem to fill up evenly on all the pens. Also the nibs are really easily crushed when you put the lid on - I accidentally split and smushed a couple of the nibs upon first use just by closing the pen-lid normally at a slightly off-angle.* About the colours:The colours are beautifully vibrant and strong - a little like writing with paint, so you can't really use these as a highlighter pen because it paints on top of your writing with a semi-transparent layer, obscuring the writing beneath. I understand now why these are called "Liquid Chalk": When you write on paper with them, if you run your fingers over the colour, it smudges like chalk would, leaving a chalk-like, powdery-looking trail behind. I liked that the ink has no smell at all so feels safe and non-toxic.* About glow in the dark-nessDidn't glow in the dark when I tested it. Put a piece of paper with ink from these pens under a strong light for about 20 seconds, then checked in dark room - Did not glow in the dark.* What these are meant to be used for:The instructions say these are best used for writing on windows, glass, white chalkboards and ceramics, mostly for decorating purposes.* About wiping these off:When I tested these on a whiteboard, some of the colours wiped off well, and some of the darker colours (eg red) left faint stains on my whiteboard that didn't wipe off, didn't come off with water or with cleaning fluid and and kinda ruined my board :( I personally wouldn't dare try these on other white surfaces like a fridge or white ceramics unless you don't mind if they are left with faint stain marks.* Overall:Nice vivid colours, and nice thick paint-like ink, but I found the whole getting-the-ink-to-the-nibs bit a little laborious, found nibs a little scratchy and was upset that the dark coloured pens ruined my whiteboard.. and they did not glow in the dark as the title suggests they should. To offer a bit more balance to this summary, they may be most useful for clear non-staining surfaces, like for window decoration.
