Ideal for a business environment.
I bought this to replace the traditional VGA beamer and screen arrangement in our meeting room. The quality had always been poor but with a relocation the cable runs were just too long. The beamer was junked and I decided to go for a smart TV and connect wirelessly. The important feature was that there should be no requirement to install software on a pc or laptop connected to the display. Visitors need to use the system but may not have admin rights (or even want) to install something. This does just plug and play. Quality is excellent. I have it operating over a distance of just 4 metres. We can swap the transmitter from laptop to laptop and it reconnects. A coupe of points to note: The mains power supplies are US plugs with some pretty rubbish adaptors but I used a USB socket from the TV to power the receiver. BE CAREFUL that they can supply enough current. The first one I tried had a limit of 0.5A and although the receiver lit up and seemed to do all the functions it wouldn't sync up. Moving the power lead to a "full-fat" USB did the trick. The transmitter can be powered from a USB port on the laptop with a piggy-back cable. The transmitter has a standard HDMI connector. If you have HP laptops, they use a different connector. You need to get an HP Display Port to HDMI adaptor - they're readily available for a few quid. Works well and looks a bit flash!

Worked well, but failed very quickly. Now dead and not warranted... AVOID!
Very poo quality. Used twice, now the reciever has given up the ghost. Now find out that no warranty offered either. Yes it's cheaper than the premium model it copies, but overall a waste of money! Avoid!!!

Reliable product, great quality picture and sound
After hearing so many tales of woe relating to wireless HDMI kits, I was a little wary of how well this would work. Admittedly, it doesn't come cheap, but the kit has done exactly what it says on the box so far. The setup I have means the transmitter is only about 5 or so metres away from the receiver, with a light barrier between, but there is no loss of picture or sound quality even on HD, from what I can tell. The latency is very low too. Pairing took a short while to figure out, and was temperamental on one occasion (though this was perhaps more due to the setup of the TV itself or the sound system), but other than that, it's been running smoothly for a number of weeks now. Overall, if you don't mind shelling out the cash for one of the higher-end wireless HDMI kits, this is a great choice.

Good engineering - bad communication
I got this because I needed to connect my QHD monitor wirelessly to my media server PC in the home. My home is not large, but it is a rental; so I needed a solution that had minimal impact on the home itself (i.e. I didn't want to run cables anywhere). The Nyrius Aries Prime (because that is what this model is, despite not being advertised as such on this website) fits these requirements perfectly. Installation was not much more complicated than plugging in a monitor to a PC. Picture quality, audio quality, and no noticeable latency are exactly what I was looking for. (It must be noted, I haven't used it for gaming; I've only used it to stream movies and music.) So why only 3 stars? Firstly, minus a star for the documentation! I needed to understand what was happening with the Nyrius when the PC was awakened from sleep, and what I needed to do; and the enclosed quick start guide didn't cover any of that. Fair enough; it's just a quick start guide. So I downloaded the full user manual from the Nyrius website. Unfortunately, the manual is so inconsistent in its use of terminology that it required some effort to discern the information I was looking for. Also, the sections on OS display and audio settings need revisiting. They use such inconsistent typography for the headings that it's not readily discernable that there are separate sections for display and for audio. Also, they go back to Windows 7, Vista, and XP - and that's fine for those hanging on to old tech - but there's no mention of newer operating systems, even if to reassure the user that no setup is required. Secondly, I bought this item on the Amazon UK website, yet when the item arrived it only had a Canada/US AC power adapter for the receiver! The seller could have been more proactive in any one of a number of ways: Either indicate that in the "what's in the box" section, or add a UK adapter in the package, or sell the UK version (yes, when I looked in the manual it became apparent that there is a UK version). So many options, yet the seller did nothing. So, although there is some good engineering here, the marketing and sales let the side down.

Great product
I've spent some time reading through all of the reviews on these wireless HDMI products and the more I read the more nervous I became about whether the product would even work. I have a blu-ray HDD recorder that can record HD programmes and I wanted to be able to watch these on TVs elsewhere in the house without unplugging the recorder or messing about with burning to blu-ray. The inability to stream HD content over DNLA finally drove me to take the plunge and I decided to go for the Nyrius Aries Pro due to the compactness of the transmitter and the claimed range. I could have chosen a system that sends an IR remote signal back to the transmitting device but the discreteness of the transmitter and the ability to power it by USB helped make my decision - I am fine with setting the blu-ray player to play before heading upstairs to watch the programme. Whilst this particular device does not have the ability to transmit IR signals from the remote, I understand the receiver is compatible with some other Nyrius devices and comes with an IR repeater detector to plug in if used with one of those systems. I am pleased to say that I have not been disappointed with the product I received - the signal transmits fine throughout my home from the blu-ray recorder downstairs to the bed rooms upstairs. I've not tried to test the range to the max, but it does exactly what I need to (I live in a standard new build UK house) with a clear signal and no lag. The only gripe I have with the product is that it ships with a US plug on the power adapter for the receiver, so I needed to dig out my old adapter socket to allow me to run the system. However, all in all, I think that this is a great product and is quick and easy to set up and get running.

Very good system, shame it's no longer for sale.
I bought this is September 2014 for £250. I'm a professional cameraman and have built a wireless HD director's monitor cage using this system. The image is really good, with a decent usable range on location through walls and doors, and with no noticeable latency or breakup. There's a useful 1/4 inch thread on the rear of the receiver which allows me to mount it to an monitor cage. I power it from a 20,000 mAh 2A USB battery, which can run the receiver all day. The transmitter runs from USB at 1A using a small USB battery which strap onto the camera in various positions as required. I have a set of three batteries on rotation. I can't fault the kit considering it's design as a domestic system, and it has held up to many months of location work. If you are a professional looking for a cheap wireless system you might considering looking for the Aputure Trans Array which i due out soon.

About as unreliable as most others have said.
It worked spot on out of the box connecting a laptop wirelessly to a projector, using the USB port on the projector to power the receiver. Video and Audi was great from about 4m. As soon as I picked up the laptop to move it away I lost signal and couldn’t get it back. Checked the receiver and there was no power. Coincidence that it powered off at the exact time that I moved the laptop? Maybe. But I can’t get the power back on. Haven’t tried plugging it into the mains as there isn’t a plug nearby. So, great while it worked/lasted. Expensive for an unreliable product though. Suggest you don’t buy.

An excellent video sender at a reasonable price.
This was purchased in order to send the video for a CCTV system from the DVR unit (above the roof) to the receiver in the kitchen. I did a load of Internet research in this somewhat hit and miss area, since I needed a reasonably reliable transfer over a significant distance (some 4-5 metres horizontally, so more than 5 metres direct line). This unit came high in the reliability ratings and was at a reasonable price. This unit worked from the moment I plugged it in and delivered a very nice image after only a small amount of positioning of the sender to avoid central heating pipes and a large support beam. The image is nearly perfect, with just occasional very minor artifacting. For over 5 metres and through the kitchen ceiling, it has exceeded my expectations and more than suitable for the CCTV monitoring I am using it for. The picture I'm getting would even be suitable for general television watching.

Doesn’t work for me...
The signal looks compressed and there is much interference with WiFi network (sometimes RX and TX doesn’t connect).

Excellent... but one thing
I wanted this so my laptop could be used untethered from the screen. It works exactly as described, excellent picture quality, compatible with Mac and PC, seems perfect. But there is one last trick you need to know - disable power saving mode on your laptop, otherwise it will go into screen disabled mode, and you need to unplug and replug in the adapter, at least on my 2016 MacBook Pro.
