Chimney Sheep 12 x 20 Inch Wool Chimney Draught Excluder & Blocker

Really like this draught excluder. Keeps the draught out from our chimney really well. Didn't even realise it was needed but our living room door kept getting sucked in by the flow of air coming up the chimney. Anyway quick installation (wear gloves) and my word the difference it's made. No draught, more heat and quieter as well. Feels like good quality material as well. Recommend

First thing - good product, well made and it works. Two things to consider 1. Positioning it right - it's hard to tell when it's really well positioned and completely covers the opening. It's never going to be sealed off, but to come close requires a bit of fiddling. 2. It's can be a dirty job - usually there will be some soot dropping down as you adjust it. Also, if you want to use the fireplace, this has to come out - and that of course comes with a lot of soot. If not careful and ready for it, it can make quite a mess. In the end, I had a sheet of acrylic cut to size to cover the front of the fireplace. I put some soft draft excluder tape in the right places and this works really well - with a plus that if we want to use the fireplace, it's easy and clean job to remove the cover. It makes a huge difference what used to be the coldest room now is as good as any other in the house.

A very effective device I didn’t realise how much heat I was losing until I fitted this chimney draft control the room is so much warmer.

Great product does exactly what it says, we put it up our chimney before we blocked it over, just to keep noise, wind etc from coming down.

I was considering buying a chimney balloon as the chimney is open and there was a draft in the room which isnt very eco friendly. Saw the reviews about them needing to be reinflated a couple times a year and i didnt like the sound of that. The sheep is easy to fit in the chimney and stays in place. Noticed straight away that there was no chill around the fire place and the wind whistling through the chimney has reduced. So in summary, its more expensive than a chimney balloon, but its super easy, low maintenance and does a great job.

I’m reviewing the chimney sheep that has been in position for 2 weeks now. It is a great draught excluder and does its job very well. No draughts in our lounge now. However, I feel it’s important to know that our homes are so well sealed with double glazing etc, that the chimney is the only form of ventilation for our bungalow, so it’s solved one problem but caused another! Condensation! My windows are dripping every morning. So, my solution is to place my sheep up the chimney each evening while we are using the lounge and remove before bed! May just be my problem but thought I would mention it as it may help others.

Makes a huge difference to the heat and heating in my house

Have an awkward elephants foot style chimney so went with a 12 x 20" and placed it just over the chimney mouth. Fits pretty well and wind noise is somewhat reduced. I don't really notice a difference in room temperature or retention of heat if I'm honest.

A little difficult to finagle but helps. It gets a little messy but seems to do the job. I have noticed I do not smell the burt fire place smell caused by the draft.

I love the idea of this product. I went to their website with my chimney flue measurements (square opening) and picked the one recommended. I installed it and after some work was able to get it to more or less seal. A few days later I noticed the draft was back. After some more looking around it had caved in on one side. After some more work i got it to more or less seal again. It seems to be holding after about a week. Overall I think this is a good product but it may not be as simple as just shoving it up the flue (YMMV).
