XURON170-IIF Micro-Shear® Flush Cutter - Lead Retainer

The lead retaining mechanism on these is awesome for trimming through hole components after soldering. No more fly-away leads that you don't find for weeks until you get acupunctured in the foot with one. They cost 3 or 4x as much as the  non-lead retaining version , but they are totally worth it for through hole components. I also recommend purchasing a pair of non-lead retaining cutters since the retaining clip can get in the way sometimes.

I've been careful with this cutter in hopes of having it last long but this cutter doesn't cut well from the get go. And the thin metal that's on one side of the cutter moves and get in the way of cutting! Regret buying this item.

The nippers work exactly as designed. They capture leads and wires (at least solid core) perfectly so that the cut ends don't go flying into the ether only to end up in your foot a week later. They cut cleanly, close, and easily and after about 1000 cut leads they look and function like new. I would buy them again at twice the price.

If your work with wire winds up with little snippets that have a tendency to fly across the room - these pliers are for you! I've ordered a pair before & am so impressed I had to order another to keep in my "go" bag.

American made and quality built in. I use them for clipping soldered component leads and they leave a very close even cut. No complaints and thankful that I purchased them.

I purchased this and other Xuron fine cutters for my model railroad business and electronics lab. Primarily these are a great set of cutters that do the job first time right.In fact this replaces my old cutters from Cooper tools and Fiskars fine cutters.I am particularly biased to good tools made in USA, Germany or Switzerland and will pay the extra price to buy such tools, as I believe in perfection.As an engineer, I believe that a tools should perform for it quality and purpose and not just price, so I do not buy cheap tools that breakdown after a few uses.Xuron makes great tools and I have been totally satisfied with the quality and performance to these cutters. The design is professional and of technical excellence.The tools are priced right for their quality and performance and am hoping to add a few more to my workshop.

These are fantastic little cutters. They cut cleanly along the entire length of the blade and stay sharp.The wire retainer function is very handy as it holds on to the piece of wire that has been clipped and prevents it from flying across the room. It will retain very small clippings of wire too, which is excellent.

Very good quality cutters and as has been said elsewhere, they cut really well due to the slight undercut design of the jaws. This means clean cuts without nasty sharp wires left on a circuit board and also the cutters are easier on the hands as they cut smoothly and cleanly without the traditional abrupt snap - only a minor point but adds that little edge of quality!

Excellent cutters. Does what it says on the tin !
