The Ultimate Guide to the Stars...Of Walt Disney Productions That Is!
Mark Arnold's previous work 'Frozen In Ice: The Story of Walt Disney Productions 1966-1985' provided the groundwork for the type of material I was to enjoy in this book. Moreso, I was fortunate enough to guest on Mark's podcast 'Fun Ideas', wherein he gave me a teaser of this book's concept! The complete guide to those who starred, co-starred, or even merely provided a background appearance or voice in all of Walt Disney Productions? Yes please! This is one of those items that you'll find yourself reaching for constantly like an Encyclopedia if you're a movie buff when it comes to classic live action Disney films from the 1950s-1980s. Mark has the book organized in a way that gives the reader a section for people who played parts in all arenas of the Disney feature film library whether in Major (Kurt Russell, Fred MacMurray, Dean Jones), Minor (Joe Flynn, Buddy Hackett, Vito Scotti), and Mini but memorable (Michael J. Fox, Tom Bosley, John Ritter) capacities. You not only get a complete Disney film resume on each person listed, but also a small biography and explanation of what films they did for Disney in later Michael Eisner-era years. The book also contains an index which helps if you're unsure of which section to look in for a particular actor.Mark really went deep with some of these people, even for those whose roles tended to be as simple as 'Man in crowd', 'Woman at carnival', 'Boy at race', or simply put 'Man/Woman'. To paraphrase what Pete's Dragon said, "there's room for everyone in this book!"Mark Arnold has again given die hard fans of the post-Walt era of Disney film entertainment something to enjoy and reach for as a guide to utilize while watching classics like The Absent-Minded Professor, The Love Bug, Blackbeard's Ghost, The Shaggy Dog, Mary Poppins, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, and more to find out just who that person was and or why do they look so familiar to us?I highly recommend this book to anyone who smiles fondly when hearing those movie titles I've previously mentioned or has a soft spot for people in the world of Disney prior to things like Star Wars, Pixar, and Frozen.Well done, Mark!
