Buy The Granny Square Book, Second Edition: Timeless Techniques and Fresh Ideas for Crocheting Square by Square-Now with 100 Motifs and 25 All New Projects! (Inside Out) Second Edition, New by Hubert, Margaret (ISBN: 9781589239487) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Amazing book (us stitch terms) - This book arrived today and I've already bookmarked all the things I want to try! The photographs are clear, as are the instructions, and each square has a diagram to follow as well, I've only been crocheting for just under 2yrs and I'm starting to follow diagrams a bit better so I like patterns that include them. There are some patterns at the back of the book as well so there's plenty to get your teeth into, the patterns also include the page number for the granny squares you'll be making for a project which makes life a lot easier. Each square and pattern is rated easy/intermediate so, if you're like me and just start something without looking properly you know why you're struggling more than normal. It's also a great way to find something to challenge yourself! I think a couple of patterns might be the same/similar just using different colours but I only saw them when I 1st flipped through the book and they weren't squares I bookmarked in the end so I may be wrong but I only noticed it with 1 pattern. I can't wait to start making some squares and trying the shawl and 1 of the blanket designs in the back. There's information at the start about the usual things like the types of hooks available, different stitches, abbreviations etc which are useful for beginners and I still use the symbol chart for the pattern diagrams. It doesn't take up a lot of space so it doesn't feel as if you're sacrificing room for more square designs etc for information you might already know but it still packs plenty of information in. This is definitely worth owning to dip in and out of and if like me you use uk stitch terms it's worth having a book with different stitches in that gives both terms or just hop on YouTube. I think only 2 or 3 of my pattern books are UK stitch terms so I'm used to it now but worth mentioning if someone is very new to crochet because it can feel like a nuisance in the beginning. Review: Something for everyone and packed with info!! - As a beginner crocheter, this book is amazing! Not only are there a range of granny squares to make but its taught me how to read crochet patterns and diagrams, learn the symbols in crochet diagrams and useful terminology. This book also has I structures with pictures, how to make different stitches! I am so glad I brought it now and have already made 3 of the beginner squares! Highly recommend this book if you are a beginner or an experienced crocheter!

Great for ideas
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. So many to choose from and lots of ideas of things to make. My granddaughter is now hooked 😄 too. Sorry about the pun. She’s thinking of making something to wear for the first time.

Great for those who want to start learning
Book is easy to read. Patterns easy to do. I have an intermediate sense on how to crochet though. I feel if you learn the basic terminology like DC is double crochet and SK is slip knot and how to do these stitches you will love this book! As you can see i am making a bunch of these granny squares called the butterfly stitch from this book and its going swell!! Im going to make a big blanket for my grandma!

My version is a Kindle version, so yours may differ from mine. I was looking for a beginner Granny Square book and this looks to be one of the best. It begins with your typical supplies, then stitches, then abbreviations and symbols on patterns. The instructions are very clear, but not every single step has a photo. She assumes that you’re learning these stitches as you go and does not repeat instructions on repeated stitches, like the chain, for example. Well, that’s obviously to be expected. She introduces one of the shell stitches but fell short of letting us in on the secret of other shell stitches. Those are quite beautiful. If I had to pick out something that bothered me, it would be three things on the layout of the Granny Squares section of the book. First is the order of the Squares. Rather than starting with the easy patterns, then moving to beginner, then moving to intermediate and on to advanced, which seems the most logical, it instead jumps around. It leaves you to have to turn page after page (in Kindle) over and over again until you get one that is on the level you are looking for. The second problem is that “chapters” or Granny Squares do not start on a new page. In Kindle it makes it difficult because it’s split and you may think the photos and patterns are for another chapter. It doesn’t seem like a big problem but I wonder how many crocheted the wrong pattern believing it to be the one pictured when it isn’t. Just remember that photos and patterns come at the END of the instructions and not at the beginning. That will help you. The third problem is that the table of contents should list each Granny Square’s name. If I know I want Nicole’s Granny (funny because my sister is named Nicole and we had a “Granny”) we could find it easier. It may not be bookmarked because who knows if I’d ever use it, right? As it is, they are not in the table of contents. Do print books have it? It would be interesting to know. Outside of that, it’s a fine book! I’m very impressed with its instructional section plus the beautiful Granny Squares. They are simply gorgeous and I found myself wanting to do them all! If I could give it 4-1/2 stars I would, so I’ll round it up to 5 stars because it’s just a great book!

O livro oferece muitas opções para quem adora quadrados de crochê. Na verdade, os quadrados são um mundo à parte no crochê porque permitem uma série de variações e combinações de formas e cores.
