Works for only short time
Edit: I found why the first unit stopped working. There is either an anodized or painted surface on the interior of the casing as an insulator. The vibration must have caused the batteries to wear through the coating and short out. I placed a coil of paper inside as an insulator and the laser bullet came back to life. The loose laser diodes are still a problem so both laser bullets are mostly useless. Also, when trying to determine why the first unit stopped working I noticed that it is not an iDryFire unit, it is an iTarget unit. My mistake. The only difference that I can determine is the label. They are identical units. I've edited the following review to correct the error.--------This is the second laser bullet I've purchased (iDryfire and iTarget). There are two problems that I found with both of them.1. While in use the barrel unscrews which causes the laser to not be on target. No amount of hand tightening can prevent the unscrewing.2. The first laser bullet, from iTarget, was purchased several months ago. I verified its operation and put it away. I recently started using it and after about 150-200 dry fires the laser dot turned into swiggly lines. I removed it for inspection and found that the barrel was unscrewed about one turn. I retightened it and rechambered it. It did not fix the problem. Even worse after two more dry fires it stopped working.Thinking that the problem was due to the device being defective, and since it was many months since purchasing it, I decided to purchase another from iDryfire. The new one has the same issue of unscrewing but I've been checking and retightening about every dozen dry fires. But, after about 150-200 dry fires the laser dot has now become a short line. It is no longer useable for target practice. Conclusion:It seems that iDryfire and ITarget sell a poorly designed and inferiorly constructed device. The unscrewing of the casing is annoying at best. But the laser becoming loose in its mounting is entirely unacceptable. Further, the battery compartment design allowing the batteries to short out is a fixable but bad design. I cannot recommend this product and advise to stay away.I have not used any of the other trade named dry fire lasers, but noticed that many pictures seem to be of the same design.Pistol: Kimber 45ACP 1911 Custom.
