Polarized Men's and Women's Hookipa Rectangular Sunglasses

*UPDATE* (2023-07-22) : After wearing these for a few weeks, I noticed that I was getting smudges on the lenses so often that I was cleaning them all the time. Comparing to my old (broken) pair, I discovered that the new pair sat much closer to my cheekbones and eyelids (hence the smudges). The Maui Jim sales support kindly let me know that there was another version of Ho'okipa called "Universal/Asian Fit" (SKU 407N-02) which is slightly tweaked for higher cheekbones and a wider nose bridge. I ended up exchanging my pair with this modified version, and I'm so glad I did because they fit so much better and no more smudges! I have no idea if the original fit changed since my last pair, but I am happy that there is still a version that fits my head. No change in my ratings because the fact that these are awesome pair remains the same.*Original Review* : After crushing my last pair in my vest while traveling, I bought my third pair in the last 17 years. I keep coming back to Ho'okipa because I have not come across any other sunglasses that are as comfortable. They are so light that you almost forget that you're wearing them. My head is on the wider side, but the contoured frame fits securely without any pinching feel at all. The Neutral Grey lenses do a nice job reducing glares while maintaining the true colors.A positive change on this purchase was the inclusion of a collapsible case! This is the best spectacle case I have ever seen! It's lightweight, fits the Ho'okipa snugly, and it collapses flat into a 0.5"-thick candy bar when not in use! I can't believe how excited I am about a case!☺️I would highly recommend to at least try Ho'okipa! I love them despite their rather high price point.

Love how they're made. I've had glasses that do a better job in the sun but this pair is still the one I go to...Good quality--made well. A little expensive..I really don't know if I would purchase again because of the cost.

I cannot say enough about the quality of Maui Jim lenses and customer service. I've had this style for 15 years--from time to time replacing my old scratched up lenses through Maui Jim customer service. Mine were the bronze tortoise Hookipas. I decided this time to order a new pair of black with the dark gray lens. I like the style even better than the tortoise. However I was hoping the gray lens would be darker than the bronze, but I don't find that to be true. Also the bronze lens offer oomph in color perception--everything looks like a Disney movie through the bronze lens. This is good for gardeners who care how orange the hibiscus is and how ruby the throat is on that hummingbird in the backyard. Although these fit me fine, I have a large head. I don't think these are good for a person with a small face. Choose a different style.Here are the best qualities of these glasses: They are lightweight. No headache. They are among the most reasonably priced Maui Jims available. They are large and wraparound just enough for good coverage. They look cool. Glare is basically nonexistent. Have a problem? Call Maui Jim for attentive service.The downside is: They are lightweight enough that when you bend over they flop away from your nose. You really should use two hands to put them on, however that is true of most glasses.

Ich habe mich aufgrund der Rezessionen, dass es sich hier um einen Fake-Artikel handeln soll fast schon davon abhalten lassen, nicht zu bestellen. Aber als jahrzehnte langer Maui-Jim Fan und Besitzer von vielen Maui-Jim Sonnenbrillen kann ich nun sagen, dass ich hier tatsächlich eine original Maui Jim Sonnenbrille - genauso wie beschrieben - erhalten habe.Bereits beim ersetn Durchblicken erkennt man sofort die perfekten Farben, die nur durch die verschiedenen Maui Jim Filterschichten entstehen. Wenn man das einmal erlebt hat, will man nichts anderes mehr. Ich habe nahezu alle renommierten Sonnenbrillenmarken ausprobiert, ein Glas wie bei Maui Jim habe ich bisher nicht entdeckt. Die meisten anderen Sonnenbrillen färben das Sichtfeld je nach Farbe des Glases - es wird die Sicht entsprechend farbstichig und außerdem wird das Bild einfach dunkel.Eine Maui Jim schaltet die Blendung der Sonne aus, Kontraste nehmen zu, aber ohne wesentlich zu verdunkeln, jedenfalls nicht merklich aber alle Farben werden deutlich satter. Das Grün der Wiese wirkt saftiger, das Blau de Himmels viel intensiver blau, das Türkis des Meeres wirkt dramatisch. Durch die spezielle Polarisierung kann man tief ins Wasser sehen, da die Wasseroberfläche kaum noch reflektiert.Zudem setzt der Tragekomfort einer Maui Jim Maßstäbe. Die Brille ist leicht. Einmal aufgesetzt bleibt sie so sitzen und verruscht auch beim Sport nicht. Selbst einen ganzen Tag lang tragen erzeugt keine Druckstellen auf der Nase auch dank der speziellen Maui Gummi-Nasen-Oliven.Die Bügel und das Gestell sind typisch aus einem Maui-Jim-Kunststoff. Das Material ist hoch starpazierfähig.Eines verzeiht einem eine Maui Jim niemals : ein Mikrofasertuch, das nicht speziell für Brillen- Kunststoffgläser geeignet ist. Die Oberfläche der Gläser wird durch ein Mikrofasertuch sofort blind.Ansonsten sind die Gläser sehr resistent gegen Kratzer. Meine älteste noch täglich im Auto benutzete Maui Jim ist mehr als 15 Jahre alt und hat keinerlei Kratzer.Einzig: Maui Jim - was habt ihr Euch bei der bescheuertes Hülle gedacht. Früher gab es immer zu jeder Maui Jim Sonnenbrille ein sehr aufweniges Etui - ein ganz Typisches mit Reißverschluss, absolut unkaputtbar, meine ältestes Maui-Etui ist jetzt mehr als 20 Jahre alt und man sieht das diesem nicht an, es wird sicher noch weitere 20 Jahre halten. Das aktuelle Etui ist so beknackt, anders kann man es nicht beschreiben, das man hochbegabt sein muss, um es zu verwenden. Anscheinend reicht mein Intellekt nicht aus um die Brille darin zu verstauen, ganz davon abgesehen, dass in einem Koffer die Brille darin im Gegensatz zu den alten Hüllen, gegen Druck nicht geschützt ist.Zum Glück hatte ich noch eine Hülle aus vergangenen Jahren über.Nun muss man sagen, dass es Jammern auf hohem Niveau ist. Ein Etui kann sich jederman für wenig Geld auch leicht kaufen.

Die Brille passt sehr gut und macht ein unheimlich tolles Bild. Sie entspiegelt perfekt, super zum Autofahren, Segeln Wander uvm.Maui Jim ist eine tolle Firma (schade das die Zentrale vor einigen Jahren auf Hawaii abgebrand ist). Auf der Supportseite hab ich erst kürzlich Ersatz Nasen Pads bestellt 2Paar die wurden völlig kostenlos geliefert, ein perfekter Service.

Excellent sunglasses, used Oakley for years the Ray Ban carbon fiber range for years but when I needed a new pair tried Maui Jim. In my opinion they are far superior, great for all day use, comfortable and light and the lenses are truly outstanding the clarity is the best I have ever experienced. Highly recommend Maui Jim sunglasses
