Q: Has anybody tried giving these a wash with chalk paint to achieve a darker color?

Yes, And it works great. I just went back over with a dry brush to buff into weave...Nice quality basket.👍👍

Q: This one comes with just one? Not 2 like the other options?

This basket is quite a bit larger than the other pair and is just one. We can sell the other set as a value set of 2 cause they nest together. This one would be hard to do. Becky for AuldHome

6 inches wide.. side to side and 5 1/2inches front to back

Q: Will the Long Pocket Basket “sit” or “stand” alone on a shelf or table?

The pocket basket would need to lean against something like a wall or such to stand up as unfortunately yes, the bottom is rounded too much. If you want one that will sit on a table safely, get the set of two baskets where the small one nests in the large one ... or the larger magazine basket. Becky for AuldHome
