A love at first sight? (Updated Dec 2018)
I started looking for a new MMO mouse recently, as my Logitech G602 started to double-click after just over two years of moderate to heavy use. My first intention was to just get another one of those, as it did the job and I was generally happy with it. However, I took the time to look around for what else was available. I wasn't getting Razer Naga as they are overpriced for what they are in my opinion. Logitech G600 also didn't look at me, as I don't like to have a ring finger rest area on the mouse, let alone an extra button for it. Even though its price is very attractive nowadays. So I ended up ordering two candidates - Redragon Perdition and Roccat Nyth with the intention to keep the one I like better and return the other. Redragon Perdition 16400 DPI MMO High Precision Programmable Laser Gaming Mouse, 18 Programmable Buttons, Weight Tuning Cartridge, 5 memory profiles, 12 Side Buttons, Power Button, Breathing Light, Omron Micro Switches turned out to be a very good mouse and the price is just amazing at almost 1/3 of what other MMO mice cost. But it didn't suit my fingertip grip very well because of that ring finger rest area. I new it was there when I ordered it of course, but it didn't look too much extra width. Despite Chinese OEM nature, it doesn't feel cheap at all. The quality and materials are fine, the coating is very good and buttons, including the side ones, are informative and very nice to push. I really wanted to go with Redragon Perdition, purely on the price advantage, but I just couldn't overcome the habit as it didn't feel right in my hand. Roccat Nyth, on the other hand, had just that extra edge I needed. Swapable panels on the right side of the mouse is brilliant idea. They make the mouse suitable for every kind of hand an grip type. Customisabe side buttons are even further step in the same direction. It not only allows you to choose the form and the number of buttons you need, but gives you further comfort improvement capabilities. I, for example, use fingertip grip and control the movement with my thumb and ring fingers holding the mouse by its sides. So I removed buttons 6,7,10,11 to make a contact area for my thumb. This way I get perfect comfort holding the mouse and still enough easily reachable side buttons. Something like what Razer Naga Hex offers but with better adjustability. Amazing! Nothing much to comment on build quality and materials. At this price they should be top-notch. And they are. The soft-touch coating, as others mentioned, is more on the smooth side. I personally would prefer to have a bit more texture (like Redragon Perdition has), but it is a thing of personal preference and so far it gave me no discomfort whatsoever. The software is great. I didn't go over it A to Z yet, but every little thing seems to be configurable and programmable, tons of options there. Works perfectly on Win10 64, updated itself and the mouse firmware on the first run. No complaints here. I can't comment on the longevity yet, obviously. If it lasts over two years like my G602 did, then it fulfilled it purpose :) Anything under a year will be a disappointment. Hope this review helps. December 2018 UPDATE: It's been over 2 years of moderate use. The mouse is 100% functional like it was on day one. No double-clicking no issues whatsoever. Software is being updated regularly too. I can now definitely say it was a great buy. Recommended.

Button flexibility is the key selling point of this mouse.
2nd day in. Will add more info at a later stage, if necessary. But here goes - Tip - Go read all the Pro reviews out there to see what it can do etc if that is what you are looking for in these customer reviews. If you want to have the thumb button flexibility, buy this product, it's a no brainer and you don't need to read on. Otherwise, have a read and make up your own mind if this is for you. First of all, the software is now mature so you can ignore the early moans about this product. I plugged it in and it functions as a normal mouse. Popped over to Roccat website and downloaded Swarm. After installation, it advised there was another update available, so installed that too. It then did a firmware update on the mouse. No issues, all works fine with the software and it's very intuitive. Button removal, it's in the instructions. Anyone he says they were difficult to get out really needs to learn to read instructions. A little slide button underneath should be opened, and while holding it in the open position, tip the mouse and the buttons all fall out. I found that you needed to hold the button open still when inserting your chosen button config. giving each a firm press to ensure they are fully engaged, then release slide button. If any buttons are lose, you've not pushed them in properly. The mouse surface is very slick. A sort of very fine rubber'ish finish. It could do with being a little more rough to improve the grip but I'm getting used to it. Thumb button placement is good, I have average man hands. Could I use all 12 thumb buttons, probably not for me, I'd end up massing the wrong one as they are a bit small. I moved mine to a 6 button config. But that is the beauty and why this is a great mouse, you can make those changes, no other mouse lets you change the amount or size of buttons. The thumb buttons also have just the right resistance for activation. Scroll wheel is cheap feeling and light, but actually it works really well and pressing it is not set to heavy either which is really nice. The fin for me seems a bit awkward to use, in fact if Roccat are reading, flare it out and we can the use it to pick up the mouse! A lot of people pick up the mouse when in use to re-position it on the table. It's heavier than cheap mice but no heavier than quality gaming mice but to pick it up to re-position, well, it's not really that easy in it's large config setting. On the skinny config setting, it's easier. The problem boils down to the slick surface and no real "edges" to get hold of. If the right side of the mouse had not been given the same slick coating, this would not be an issue at all. I've just been testing it out and as long as you grip the right side with your pinkie and ring finger, it's OK, and I will get used to it. But if there were a flaw, this is the only one I would point at. I would also recommend using any mouse with a mouse mat and wrist rest. If you don't like to have the heel of your hand resting on the table because this causes a non neutral wrist position, you're going to need a wrist rest here. As the surface is slick, it's really hard to stop your palm from slip backwards down the mouse. Using the mat and rest, or just a rest, solve that immediately.

Best Mouse... with a few areas for improvement.
First, it's worth knowing that I changed to this mouse from a Logitech G602, which I liked a lot. That being said, the issues I have with the Nyth are relative to that mouse. I also have large hands and play MMOs, mainly WoW. This is a great mouse. Simple as that if you want the TL;DR version. Thing is, despite the massive customization this mouse offers, that's not what you're paying for really. Once you have the layout you want, the fact this mouse can be customized is all but redundant from then on. So what you pay for is getting a mouse tailored for your personal play style. As such, there is nothing like it out there (yet?). I'd say that in general, this mouse suits normal to larger hands more than small hands. Which is nice as the Naga all but has the tiny hand people covered. The feel of the mouse is pretty nice with a sort of slick, rubberised finish to it. Only down side there is, is that I can imagine that it's going to ware to a shiny gloss finish over time. we'll see. The feel of the clicking and side buttons is rather soft compared to other mice I've used, and this is either something you'll like or hate about the mouse. I'd prefer more precise and defined feel to the main left/right clicks. the side buttons are soft, but not mushy. Again, I'd rather have had a harder click or even mechanical switches, but that may not be possible with the custom button layout system and would almost certainly up the price. I'm already getting used to the softer feel and it doesn't effect my play at all. The Swarm software is pretty comprehensive with options for everything you need and stuff you don't. Worth noting that there isn't a disk included, but that's not an issue for the target audience for this mouse anyway. Although it could be made clearer in the supplied paperwork where to go to get the Swarm suite. I could do without the lighting system this mouse offers. I don't see the point of it when I cover it all with my hand, and even if I could see it, who looks at their mouse anyway? Still, for those that like that stuff, it's there with a ton of options for colours and effects. Overall, this is a high performance mouse that will give you the layout you need/want with a TON of options. If Roccat make a mechanical one, it will pretty much be the perfect mouse.

A great mouse with a great limitation
Let move a few things out of the way: the Roccat Nynth is probably one of the best mice on the market. It is not perfect though. It has some weakness that unfortunately make it unsuitable in a few situations. /// Hardware The hardware is a masterpiece of engineering. Every single detail is addressed. The side buttons are organized in a stairs-like configuration that feels natural. Under the keypad there is a small protuberance where the thumb can rest. The material offers a nice friction against the fingers without getting stick to them. The side buttons are responsive and relatively silent. Strangely, every button has a different clicking noise. The shift key is not super-easy to reach but I guess it is shouldn't be as one doesn't want to press it by mistake. The fin buttons(?) is a stroke of genius. It is a simple idea but it can be very useful. The side buttons can be replaced with a series of other options like double or tripe size buttons. Frankly, I haven't tested the additional buttons as I can reach all the 12 buttons without any problem. I understand though that for some applications where fast response is necessary (e.g. changing weapon in a game) a double-size button can be useful. On the right side of the mouse the is a replaceable parts that is kept in place by magnets. The build tolerances are very low and the removing part locks in perfectly. The LEDs are purely aesthetic. The hand covers them completely and even when a color is associated to a profile profile, one has to raise the hand to see the color change. I would have liked at least one of the LEDs in another, more functional position. The tracking is superb. I test different DPI values and it always tracked flawlessly. /// Software The mouse requires a piece software (SWARM) that can be downloaded from the Roccat web site. it is relatively simple to use and it offers a vast set of customization options. The vast majority of settings are profile-linked. In other words, when a different profile is activated, the settings change accordingly to the values stored in the profile. It is not entirely clear which setting is profile-linked and which isn't. For instance, the 5 possible values of DPI are not profile-linked. However, the fact that a specific value is enabled or not is profile-linked. The only way to find out is trying. A simple color coding would have been useful. /// Profiles Although SWARM is a powerful piece of software, when it comes to profiles it shows an unexpected weakness. For a mouse with some many buttons, profile management should be one of strongest features but unfortunately for the Nyth it isn't. SWARM allows the creation of an unlimited number of profiles. Every profile can be linked to one or more applications. For example, one can have a spreadsheet and a word processor both linked to the same profile. Profiles can also be flagged as "auto switch". This means that when the application that is linked to the profile is in foreground, the profile linked to the application is activated automatically. One profile can be defined as Desktop Profile. This particular profile is activated when the desktop or one of the Window's windows (no pun intended) are in foreground. So far, everything works as expected. There are a few limitations though. SWARM divides the profiles in two groups: onboard profiles (profiles that can be recalled with autoswitch or with a button) and stored profiles (profile that are stored by SWARM but that are not directly accessible). Up to five profile can be onboard: four profiles plus the desktop profile. To access a 6th profile that is not on-board, one has to open SWARM, go to the profile manager, swap an on-board profile with a stored one, activate the new profile, (optionally) close SWARM and switch back to the application. If this wasn't enough of a pain, there is another problem. As we saw, autoswitch profiles are loaded automatically when the application associated to the profiles goes in foreground. Crucially though, the same profile is not deactivated when the same application goes in background - the profile remains active. This means that if a profile is associated with an application with autoswitch, and one clicks on another application without profile, the profile will not deactivate. All this is odd to say the least. Other similar mice have an unlimited number of profiles that can be loaded on the fly and a default profile that is activated when no other profiles are active. It is not something out of science fiction book. It should be the basic of profile switching. Knowing which profile is active at any give time is also a little bit of a challenge. It is possible to associate a different LED color to each profile but one has to lift the hand from the mouse to see the color of the LED. Alternatively, SWARM can tell via the PC's speakers which profile is active. However, it does it indirect. It doesn't say "Profile Notepad" but "Profile 1". It is up to you to remember what is loaded in the slot number 1. Are these limitations on profile management important? It depends. If you plan to use just one profile for everything and other profiles for long game sessions, you'll be fine with what SWARM has to offer. You just have to create a Desktop profile and a profile for each game. Before the game session load the profile manually or automatically. If you plan to use the mouse for something more sophisticated, you are out of luck. Users that for instance plan to have a profile for Office programs, one for video editing, 2 profiles for 2 different audio editing programs and another couple of profiles for other applications or games will find the limitations of profile management a deal breaker. It is really a shame. Nyth is an exceptionally good mouse. Apart for minor details, it ticks all the boxes there are to tick. Unfortunately, the limitations of the software side exclude Nyth from the potential audience of users that require something more than very basic profile management.

Best mouse I've ever used.
I bought this 13th September 2015, and writing my review now (10th April 2018) because it's only starting to fail on me. This is THE best mouse I have ever used out of a collection of Razer, Logitech and even in the old Cyborg range, and by far this has been the best mouse I've ever actually used. It is very comfortable and customise-able for when my hand just isn't quite comfortable, the buttons are placed nicely and the layout I tend to use most is having a flat surface in the middle, surrounded by single buttons that can be used for different reasons in games like Push to Talk. The paddle on the top is easy to get to with your knuckle to weapon switch and the likes, but if there was one downside to the mouse is the stretch to the secondary left button so it was never something I used. Not long over 2 years now and the mouse is starting to fail on me, but it has endured spills and constant use from sweaty hands, I'd like to be able to open the mouse to be able to clean it however that's not really the case with this mouse so now the buttons have started to malfunction in ways like multi clicking when I don't want them to, or even releasing the held click. I can say that I'm looking forward to newer Roccat products and hoping they will produce a much more peripherals in the future after seeing the quality of this mouse, and will be looking forward to when I will have the funds to purchase the Roccat Leadr.

Great design, terrible software
The mouse has a great design, it fits comfortably in my hand and although a little heavy, it's still one of the most comfortable mice I've used. The ability to swap out the side buttons is great and leaves many combinations and options which I like. The software however is terrible, the monitoring software would somehow use 30% of my cpu (i5 4690k) and I'd have to close it. The main issue is it would work fine, then suddenly it would stutter when moving sideways. Up and down was fine, just sideways. I tried replacing the mouse mat and cleaning the sensor to make sure it wasn't dirt and it didn't help. After searching online it seemed to be a issue a few different people had. The only solution was to physically unplug the mouser and plug it back in. Then it would work perfectly fine with no issues. Although this would happen almost every time I turned on my PC and after a certain point it becomes tedious. It has a lot going for it, but at the same time there's a lot wrong with it and with the price you're spending, it's not worth it.

Very disappointing ergonomics for it's price.
On paper, the customization options for this mouse make it awesome. I watched numerous video reviews and all off them stated how great it is. It might be true, but not for me. The materials used for it are very good quality, it feels premium and it comes with a lot of buttons. The software is very robust, giving you a ton of customization in terms of button placement, sensitivity and macros. The hand rests very well on it's curved surface. For my gripping style i find it impossible to hold and lift the mouse off the mat. Although the mouse surface feels rubbery, it's pretty slippery. When trying to lift it, you don't grip it as hard as other mice, because you might accidentally push the side buttons and, in doing so, it starts to slip. Also, both the buttons on the thumb side and the pinkie rest lean inwards in a conical shape, not giving you any overhang to grip. Imagine this as trying to grip a polished large ball. I had to 3D print a dummy replacement for the second row of buttons just to give me an overhanging edge for my thumb to get a grip. If you replace the default pinkie rest with the spare one in the box, the mouse becomes larger and even more difficult to grip. Although it is a very robust and customizable product, it did not do it's job as a mouse for me, as i could not use it for it's intended purpose. Sadly i will return it.

Super mouse bought it for RPG MMO's much better IMO ...
Super mouse bought it for RPG MMO's much better IMO than my Razer Naga 1 Great build quality 2 Very flexible button combos 3 Very good software for macros and button assignment. Simple to use (you need to download it Swarm it does not come in the box with the mouse) 4 Overkill in some areas but I am using every aspect of the mouse both in gaming and in my job as a Network engineer. 5 For right handed people only not Lefty friendly at all 6 I have a hybrid claw grip in games and palm grip in my everyday use the mouse caters for both 7 If you feel the need to get a mouse that has this many buttons IMO this is the mouse for you I have a Razer Naga and a Steelseries Sensei IMO this is better than both in all areas. I love the one button push to duplicate buttons in a shift mode so all my buttons can be macroed or rekeyed by holding down the well placed shift button Unlike what was said in other reviews it is a mechanical key'd mouse

Finalmente!!!
Voto assolutamente 10! Amazon come sempre perfetto.

Cordialement.
