Brilliant series
Was so looking forward to getting this, haven't seen the series as I was too young when it was first shown to remember it and its never been repeated. The series was a spin off of Upstairs Downstairs and if you loved that you will love this.

It's great to see again after all these years!
I was playing catch-up with this and I'm really glad I did! The two main actors always were of the highest calibre, and it was nice to look at again. Item arrived sturdily packaged and in good time. Great seller, many thanks!

A Curate's egg.
Like a Curate's egg I found this series good in parts but nowhere near as enjoyable as Upstairs/Downstairs, of which it was a "spin off" and thus natural to compare the two. Although the principal leads are two fine character actors (John Alderton/Pauline Collins) they alone are not enough to carry a poorly thought out idea for a series. In U/D Thomas Watkins was a man with a dream to run his own motor garage but in T/S he seems to have forgotten that; more likely the writers found that they could not make that alone work for a full series. Without giving away too much of the plot Watkins trys his hand at magic, a school teacher, a shopkeeper and much else. Sarah turns out to be far more foul mouthed in this series than ever she was in U/D and I found this aspect disappointing too. Both sets come as four episodes to a dvd and with U/D I found I was watching all four in an evening but it was difficult to see even one episode of T/S all the way through in one sitting. It just didn't hold my interest in the same way.To sum up I found it a good idea and great actors let down by a poorly thought out script.

Enjoyed them
Most of the episodes were plausible and enjoyable. A couple were a bit far fetched. However, I was very pleased with the whole DVD. The excellence of the acting was unsurpassed from both characters.

Reminding Us of Good TV Programmes for All the Family.
I was delighted to find this DVD on the Amazon list. The reason being that my son,Tim,played one of the schoolboys in the Episode entitled Alma Mater. At the time that it was broadcast I had no video recorder & having only seen it the once I had very little recollection of his performance! Imagine the excitement I felt being able to see my little gingerhaired boy (who is now 45yrs old) acting along side John Alderton & Pauline Collins! The series itself is delightful - the sort of stories that can be watched by the whole family from the Grandparents to the little ones.On TV today there is very little entertainment that is not violent, sexual or concerned with people trying to outwit other contestants by being outrageous and cruel - no wonder there are so many disturbed & dangerous people out there!Watch this gentle DVD and remember the days when people were courteous and kind to each other!!

Unhappy ending
I enjoyed watching these DVDs but the end was very disappointing what happened to Thomas as there was only one coffin and what became of Sarah it was a stupid way the end is that it if so not very happy.
