Mine is not at all transparent, but light weight and cool.

Q: My husband is 6'3", do you think the shirt may be long enough for him to tuck in? He's would likely wear a large.

I am 6'5" and in good shape. I got an XL and it fit perfect out of the box, but one wash in cold water and cool in the dryer had it shrink about three inches. It was then way too short to wear so I had to return it. Long story short: not a shirt for taller people.

Q: Are the heathered colors also 100% cotton per the tag?

I believe so. They washed and shrank a little same as the solid colors.
