Never have I been as pleased with a digital camera as with this fascinating Samsung ...
Never have I been as pleased with a digital camera as with this fascinating Samsung Galaxy Camera. Top of my list is the big screen which is so wonderfully wide it occupies the entire back of the camera. Its size has even pushed any physical buttons and knobs off into the software and therefore onto the screen itself! And what a screen it is. I will just pick out one terrific feature from it, the tricky sounding 'Smart Pro Mode'. Whoever invented this is a genius. It nearly presses the button for you and yes, 'we really do the rest' as Mr. Kodak once said. You will have complete strangers looking over your shoulder, in no time, at that big screen, to see the photos you have just taken. As an aside, the screen ensures anybody using the camera will not be inclined to cut people off at the knees by having too much sky in the photo, the 'too much headroom' syndrome. Your compositions will be Rembrandt like. As to picture quality, Everything so far has been razor sharp from postcard size to A4 enlangements. This is despite pixel-counting reviewers who also must pick nits. Intriguingly there may be a reason for this. I decided to install a battery and micro SD memory card only, for the moment. No SIM card because I don't yet need to avail of all the apps and sharing love-in hippy stuff that goes with that. I mean to say, it is a camera is it not? I have been told that since there is less demand from the Android, not to mention the Jellybean (what is this? Snoopy meets Dr. Seuss via ET?) that all the power goes to the picture making elements and even the anti-vibration device. It makes sense. Buy one soon, if you can, at Amazon's great price, before Samsung either delete or improve it! Tim, Dublin.

Not great if you have Kids ...
Camera is interesting - I love the ease of getting pictures onto the Web with Google+ and Dropbox. But those services will work with smartphones and other devices. Image quality can be good, but there are too many 'options' and sometimes it just takes too long to wake-up, or you have the wrong settings and you miss things. Some of the features are also not well thought out. For example, the face enhancement gets applied to all faces - even those that are quite small/in distance; but these are not big enough for the algorithm to work properly so they get 'smudged'; it ruined a bunch of nice pictures with my kids because of this (you can't recover the original image - another example of a feature not being 'well thought out'). And talking about kids - I guess mine move to fast for this camera; you have another feature that captures the best face in 5 successive image captures, but it rarely gets more than 2 from 5 for any of my kids! (Why not keep capturing images, Samsung guys? Maybe Korean kids are better behaved, but you are selling to a global market!) Having said all that, it does have a good optical system and good stabilization for long zoom shots. It does work well once it gets started. It isn't a DSLR so if you've owned a professional or prosumer camera you might be disappointed, but if you are coming from a point & shoot it is a step up in the world. Definitely quite complicated (although the features are presented in an accessible way) and I'm not sure what value all the additional Android capabilities provide - apart from uploads to Google+, Dropbox, etc; but you could have those without full Android! So my final conclusion - 4 stars; now when Samsung make a simpler, cheaper camera (but with the same lens/optics) that keeps the Web upload capabilities I'll give it a 5-star ...

Wow !!!
I got this today, and i was amazed it's a phone in a Camera !!! I love it, i can download music,Games and lots more its like having an I-Phone you get a Sim card with it the Network is Three you get 1GB of internetfor free for 30 days then afterwards ยฃ10 a month but i just use my Wi-Fi at home, Graphics are great the Camera is great too so clear and you can edit the pictures after and then upload them to facebook, twitter and whatever websites you use. I would not carry it around everywere as its quite heavy but great if you are just at home or you want to go out you can then leave your phone at home and take the Samsung out you can buy texts so you can contact people when you wish too. I did not realise it was a phone aswell untill it arrived. Internet is fast. All i can say its worth the price for what you get. Video camera,Photos, has loads of memory does include Sd card everything apart from no camera case. Overall its so good that im very happy with the product, its good if you like to play games and take lots of great photos also go on the internet a lot. Camera,Phone and touchscreen amazing !!!! all i can say is FANTASTIC !!!!!!

Great camera but problems with the software
The camera works very well but when it arrived all the messages were in Hungarian. As everything is digital on this camera this was a problem and I had to call Samsung before I could use it. As the card is a micro SD card it won't fit into my Mac computer so I have had to buy another micro SD card with a converter to SD from Amazon and it hasn't arrived. Now if I plug the camera into my MAC computer it doesn't register and I am waiting for a solution from Samsung. This is a shame because the camera is just brilliant with normal Aperture and speed setting plus the presets that come up in large size with a description instead of having to understand the small icon as with most other cameras. It is also amazing to be able to set the aperture and speed digitally. This camera will change how photography companies build their cameras in future.

BUYER BEWARE
To be fair to Samsung I was unable to review the product because I was unable to get it working! I ordered the camera on the Friday on Next day delivery since it was my birthday on the Sat. and I wanted to test it at a rugby match that day. The camera arrived next am and I opened the package. What emerged was the camera, charging lead, battery and.... a travel plug adapter! "That's odd". Closer inspection revealed that the 2 Quick Start guides were written in Italian. "Odder still". Put in the battery and up pops the intro screen in, yep, Italian. 'phoned Amazon and was given a Tel No for Samsung. V. helpful chap said I could return it or he could talk me through changing the language on the camera, however, if I went for option 2 the Warranty would be rendered invalid because the camera was intended for use in the Italian market and UK repairer might not be able to obtain some spares. (?) So, back it goes. Thanks Amazon. 1/2 my birthday spent on the 'phone, missed the Rugby match and no camera + the hassle of printing labels and returning goods and all because Amazon's supplier (More Buying Choices - that's appropriate)is unable to comprehend that a camera sold to a UK customer should, by default, be a camera that's intended for the UK market. I still want the camera and will probably buy through Amazon because I've had good service from them in the past but trust can be very fragile thing.....Amazon. Perhaps the moral of this tale of woe is; if you receive a gizmo with the wrong lingo, don't mess about with it. You could end up warranty-less.

Wonderful Camera
I bought this because I was off to Cuba and wanted a easy camera to use, it never let me down, the colours on the pictures are wonderful, also used it to film a boat trip while I was there, wow when I look at it now it is as if I am there, well recommended.

So disappointed!
I've waited a long time for this camera. It sounded like exactly what I've always wanted, a camera that is like the camera on my iPhone but without the phone bit. It does look and feel nice. It's quite heavy and I do not feel comfortable holding it without the strap wrapped around my wrist - it's way too expensive to drop, and it does feel like it could get knocked out of my hand if I'm filming in a party or other crowded situation, which was the plan. The camera is easy to use and has lots of fancy gizmos that I would love to have BUT it's not what it should be. There is a time lag when starting to film and also when waking it from sleep mode sometimes it takes 15-30 seconds to be able to shoot. It is advertised as a camera with all the apps that you get on a phone or tablet. Well, I certainly wouldn't be buying a tablet in 2013 that doesn't have a front facing camera. There is no point in having apps like skype, tango and google-hangout on there because the person you are talking to cannot see you. It's like going waaay back to the very first iPad; It was good at the time, but things have moved on. I'm 100% certain that the next version of this camera will have that facility and it's been very short sighted of Samsung to exclude it here. Therefore, it makes more sense to purchase a smart camera, that fits in my pocket and a separate tablet. I really wanted to love this camera, gutted that I had to return it because it just doesn't live up to all its promises and for the price tag, I cannot justify that to myself.

A great camera of you are looking for a smaller camera ...
A great camera of you are looking for a smaller camera to take on holiday and want to cut down on the weight and size. I would say though that the image quality is maybe sacrificed a bit because if this but I like the features of being able to edit and post them straight to FB from the camera. Definitely a worth while investment.
