A really well done book that send positive messages to any young hip-hop fans
I got this for my 15yr old son as he's very much into rap and hip-hop and idolises a lot of the artists. I thought this book may be able to send a positive message from the mouths of the artists he looks up to most. He was really interested in it as soon as it arrived and had a flick through stopping off to read about the people he was most interested in. I had a good look through myself and really like the messages it sends as they are all down-to-earth, positive and motivational. I actually found it quite riveting myself as it's interesting to learn a lot about where these young artists have come from and what helped them with success. The book is broken down into eleven chapters all of which focus on different subjects such as motivation, creativity, authenticity, mental well-being, amongst many others. At the back of the book, they provide a comprehensive list of mental health resources, which I think is very important for young people today. All in all, I am really pleased with this book and am happy for my son to read this and take away a lot of the important and humbling messages. Well done to the author of this book and I am more than happy to give this 5/5. Recommended!

Great book- who to overcome your difficulties and get going.
We easily assume that successful people we idolise just have no problems, and I loved the honesty of this book in which a number of artists give their tips on how to get going, get creative, be yourself, and feel better about the rest of the world. Really down to earth, and open about their own feelings, these guys give you invaluable tips, in everyday language, free of psucho babble. Doesnt matter if you are into rap of hip hop, what is said here is well worth reading and will have hints and tips for just getting on with the stuff of everyday life.

Daily snippets of wisdom from the unexpected.
Hip Hop artists generally, may not be your first and obvious option, when looking for advice or words of wisdom, but this book may surprise you. It's not necessarily some deep and life changing manifesto for life, but you will find yourself nodding in agreement, as you read through it. Even, stumbling into an 'aha' moment, where you think 'yes, that's true', then wander off a little more determined.Of course Hip Hop is often about self expression, so it's right to assume that Hip Hop artists will likely have something to say, about themselves and how they feel. Also, the names contained within this book, are of some very successful people, influential in their art and to their audience. This is where this book is very good. The author has clearly spent a lot of time and effort interviewing these artists and has been able to pull together some revealing and encouraging views from them. Categorised under 11 areas, including motivation, relationships and resilience, this book is well constructed.Overall it is a very interesting read for anyone, but particularly so for fans of the genre. That said, anyone can enjoy this book as it relates to everyone. It's not a book you will read from cover to cover, but one that you will more likely dip into. It's a good read.

Hip-hop vignettes
This is a lovely collection of 2 page vignettes from various hip-hop personalities. Most boil down to the same message, that's its OK to follow your dreams but you need to have a strong work ethic to succeed. This would make a great gift for any hip-hop fans especially teens or young people. Being a collection of short vignettes for a niche interest, it's good to dip in and out of and is ideal for encouraging reading for teens who are reluctant readers or those with additional learning needs such as ADHD.
