stands for the width of the shoe. "D" is a standard width for most people. if this was a wide model it would be have an "E, or an extra wide a "EE" ex. 11E or 11EE

I wear men 9.5-10 I ordered size 10 they are a little tight when new but stretch after just a few wearings.
