Versatile and tastes delicious!
I recently discovered Green Schug by Med Cusisine and I have to say, I'm completely hooked! This herby, spicy sauce is the perfect condiment for adding flavour and depth to a wide range of dishes. One of the things I love about Green Schug is that it's made with simple, natural ingredients. It's vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free, which makes it a great option for those who are looking for healthier condiment choices. The flavour of Green Schug is truly unique. It has a bold, spicy kick that is balanced out by a refreshing, herby note. It's perfect for adding a little extra zing to grilled meats, roasted vegetables, sandwiches, and so much more. I've even used it as a marinade for tofu and it was delicious! The packaging of Green Schug is also a plus. It comes in a convenient 190gr jar that is easy to store in the fridge. The sauce has a nice, thick consistency that is easy to spoon out and apply to my dishes. Overall, I'm really impressed with Green Schug and I'll definitely be repurchasing in the future. It's a delicious, versatile condiment that adds a lot of flavour to my meals. I'd happily recommend it to others.5 stars!Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

Definitely my latest favourite condiment...
I recently discovered Green Schug and it has quickly become my favorite condiment! The combination of herbs and hot red chilli pepper paste is a perfect balance of flavors that can really kick up any dish. The bright, spicy sauce has an incredible flavor and adds a huge burst of flavor to anything you put it on. I love it on wraps, roasted veggies, soups, salads and anything else I want to give a spicy kick to.Highly recommend.

Arrived open
I was really looking forward to using and reviewing this ingredient but unfortunately it arrived broken. The lid was off and the contents all over the package.

Reasonable heat but quite watery and oily (and using canola oil)
I've usually seen it spelled "zhug" - it's a Yemeni condiment with chillies, herbs and spices mashed to a paste, which is (or should be) quite fiery and only needs to be used in small quantities. This has a decent heat to it but could be a bit hotter. My main issue is the water and oil. Water is the largest ingredient here, and really shouldn't be part of an authentic zhug at all. And rather than using olive oil as it should contain they have been total cheapskates and used canola oil instead (as they have been doing with their other products too), which also gives a different flavour profile, and quite a bit of it at that. It's thus very watery and swimming in oil, and doesn't really taste completely "authentic". This is the sort of product where I would recommend making the effort to produce your own, as none of the commercial variants I have come across really cut the mustard as far as I am concerned.

Nice scent but pity arrived with the lid not air tight
This green schug has a very nice herbal. I can smell cardamon, cumin , coriander and chillies. But what a pity my jar arrived not air tight. It wasn't sealed properly as if it were opened. I wish they can do better job in sealing it up. It smells lovely but I dare not try as it was not vaccum sealed tight.

Delicious, spicy and tasty
I am delighted to have discovered Med Cuisine’s Green Schug - it’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before and it enhances whatever food you add it to.It looks like pesto and it looks quite oily when you first open the jar but it just needs a quick stir before using. The coriander and cumin give it a sort of curry taste, with red chillies providing the heat, but it’s really hard to describe the flavour. I like spicy food so I found it to be delicious.I tried it on its own as a dip, which I loved, but it was also lovely with fish. I love it so much, I could just eat it straight out of the jar.One thing to note: once opened it needs to be refrigerated and used within 14 days. It’s not a problem as you could easily use it in two weeks, it just makes the price of £6.99 (at the time of review) a little expensive for something you will need to order every two weeks. If you like spicy food and curries, you will love Med Cuisine’s Green Schug and I definitely recommend trying it.

Runny and spicy hot
I have never heard of schug before but we will try anything to get some new taste sensations. You can use it as a dip or addition to various foods and it is hot and spicy.I had some with veggies as a dip and it is yummy.Quite hot and sharp, a tiny bit like a pickle but without any sweetness and with edges of curry spice. Not salty.Tastes lovely with cheese. If you like curries and pickles, you will like this too. Would be nice with meat or veg or crisps.Bit runnier than expected.

Delicious and moreish!!
I’d never come across schug before, not being familiar with Yemeni cuisine, but a quick glance at ingredients reveals a list of some of my favourite flavours: coriander, garlic, parsley, chilli and cumin amongst others. I do love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food so was very excited to try something new from that realm. I cooked lamb kofte specially to go with this when it arrived, and it went together perfectly. I don’t know how it is usually used, but I used it neat as a dipping sauce. It has a good chilli kick but not so fiery I couldn’t eat it with a spoon. Was perfect with the lamb kofte and very moreish. I got through perhaps half a jar with no trouble and don’t expect the other half to last long. I expect there’s lots of ways it could be used in marinades, salad dressings, etc but I’ll have a hard time doing anything other than using it straight out the jar as a dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious, will definitely be buying in future and keen to try other condiments in this range too as every single one looks just as delicious.
