My First Classical Music Book (with Audio CD)

this was my favourite purchase of 2013 by far. I now buy it for all children's birthdays. The text annotating the music is sufficiently memorable my 4 year old can differentiate all the music even when we put it on shuffle. Even my 2 year old has favourites. I allow Bach's organ music to be skipped and the children put their hands over their ears for the only other track they don't like (Beethoven) but since all the tracks are 2-3 mins long you are quickly onto the next extract and mostly they are BRILLIANT. I never knew I liked Brahms or Rachmaninov! Please can we have book 2 (the instruments and composers ones are good but we'd love another like this)

We absolutely love this book/CD! I bought it about two years ago, when my children were 3 and 5 years old, and it has become one of their firm favourites, often reading the book or listening to the CD at bedtime.The selection of music is excellent, showcasing a wide range of composers. The book is well structured, the text is easy to follow and the illustrations are full of character - quirky, funny and simply delightful, enhancing the listening experience. This book is highly educational and lots of fun, perfect as a lighthearted introduction to the magical world of classical music.Please buy this book, it's a rare find and amazing value for money, you will get years of enjoyment out of it.

We bought this book for our second grandchild because we gave the same book to our first grandson, who loves to dance to the can-can on track 2, at the tender of now 2.

I've just read this to my 4 year old son at bedtime. He has just started learning the violin after asking to play for the past year. This book is a fantastic introduction to all the "families" of instruments, as well as the composers. It includes some interesting snippets about each composer too - I didn't know that Bach had 20 children! The recordings on the CD are not the greatest - namely The Elephant from Carnival of the Animals, but are fine for a small child. Very pleased with this, and he loved it.

Bought this for my 6 year old grandson who loves it!

I read a review in a newspaper about this book several months ago and decided to buy one as a birthday present for a 5 year old boy . It is a wonderful book , laid out well and the illustrations are great too . The chapters are well defined , a very enjoyable book to look at and discover music , composers and instruments . I thought this book was so delightful that I bought another one for a christmas present for a 6 year old girl.
