You get what you pay for?
I admit, I'm cheap so bought these. They don't come with instructions. How hard can it be? The four tips are not installed on the struts which was kind of curious to me. So you just screw the tips on, no big deal, until you try to install these on the hood. Every manufacturer has little quirks in the assembly line, yes, even Toyota. That silly little millimeter difference makes a big deal. One side went on fairly easy (I'm doing this by myself) but that second side. After much vocabulary exercising, finally had to dismantle the top tip, bolt on the bottom of the strut to the body, bolt on the top tip to the hood and then try to mate the top tip to the top of the strut rod. Needless to say, the top tip looks mangled all to he!! but it does work.Next time, no more gas struts. Going to figure out an old fashion metal rod to hold hood up.

These do not a 2004 Toyota 4runner.
As the title says. They do not articulate and as such do not fit.

Limited range of motion to fit properly
These didn't fit very well on my 2003 4runner. The ball joints do not articulate enough to install the hood struts while the ball joint studs are installed into the sockets. Trying to do so will most likely result in cross threading the bolt holes. How I got these installed is by threading in the ball joint studs onto the car first, installed the sockets onto the struts, pressed in the socket to the ball joint stud in the engine bay, and then tapped the other end of the strut to the hood. You may have to lightly tap on it with a rubber mallet until you hear a "click" which is the retaining spring locking itself to the ball joint. There's just not enough range of motion in the ball joints for these to fit properly and puts too much stress on the thin sheet metal.Once installed, they do work much better than my worn out 20 year old struts but boy they are noisy. Almost sounds like metal to metal rubbing inside the cylinder but it's most likely just the hydraulic fluid cavitating.
