I had suffered with my hole only covered with the cut out, old wooden lid from bushel barrel. And when I say beat up I mean this thing was falling apart. Little parts of it slowly broke off and fell in my hole, and well that backed me right up! I found this one and when it arrived I was thrilled!! A real solid lid for my hole!! I was nervous, my hole appeared to be a little bigger that what is said to be the average size, but the product claimed to match my parts inside my hole. And guess what!! IT DID!! I’m so glad to find a replacement skimmer lid for our 30+ year old American Products P/N 987004. Both old and new are 9 1/8”. I wish the manufacturer had placed the finger hole off to the side like American Products did for easier lid removal. This plastic lid is thickest right where the hole is—fat or male fingers might have a harder time grasping the lid. That said, having a middle hole does seem like a smarter, more durable design. Our old skimmer lid broke right at its weakest point--where the thin plastic, side-centered hole was. That’s why we bought two of these--if one lid broke, the other isn't far behind.

Had one of these installed for 10 years and has not turned yellow or cracked in the hot desert environment. Just bought an extra one just to have on hand but doesn't look like I'll need it anytime soon.

The lid was a nice snug fit. It looks nice. My old one cracked when one of my beefier grandsons stepped on it. This one fit but when you want to remove the lid there's only the small hole in the middle. My last one had a finger hole on two sides so you could of pull it off. I couldn't get it off. Look at the picture of it, the whole is the size of my pinky finger and my pinky couldn't budge it. Had to reach inside the skimmer and punch it up. If it doesn't loosen up from use I'll rig up something to fit the hole. Otherwise it looks good.

Perfect replacement for deck lid on c. 1980s skimmer. Here's the key info: my nominal 9" skimmer opening is actually about 9 1/8-3/16" wide. This lid has small nibs around the edge that improve the fit and keep the lid from potentially binding. Thickness at edge is 1/4", and it fits perfectly flush in my skimmer. Radial ribs from center are heavier than the original lid, and it looks/feels durable. Center finger hole looks small in the photo, but I've had no problem removing the lid with my finger. So good I've ordered another 2--to replace my other old lid and have a spare.

My old skimmer deck lid was cracking and needed replacing. I looked at the price for a replacement lid, and some other pool products in Leslie's catalog and was shocked at the high cost. Then i started searching on Amazon and was very pleased when i found this lid and other products at great prices. Even with shipping costs the prices are lower than at any pool supply store. The lid looks great. It is more heavy duty than my original lid was. And i really like the look of the finger hole in the center of the lid. Great product! Fast shipment! Five Stars!
