I don't have a clue as to why any reviewers of this whole rye bread product gave it such a low rating. I think either they haven't any idea what real whole rye bread should taste like or they're just from another planet or a time warp. I think that their taste buds must have been perverted from consuming too much white bread, junk food and must not know what a true wholesome food is supposed to be. But, I'm a dyed in the wool rye grain lover and this bread is simply terrific and has more than satisfied and lived up to all of my optimistic expectations. If you really love real 100% whole rye bread without any added wheat flour, preservatives, other junk additives or chemicals, as I do, then go ahead and check out this fantastic pure organic rye bread product. And, it also toasts just fine n dandy. Highly recommend. Delicious!

This whole rye bread is a little more dense than the pumpernickel. The flavor is mild and I eat it as toast. I find it crumbles a little more than some of the other varieties. I will probably switch back to one of the other varieties next time.

My grocery stopped carrying rye bread, so I took a chance on this, Highly rated! Ugh. Although rye is the first ingredient, couldn’t taste it. Salty. Can't imagine serving it - and I have six little loaves.

The bread is excellent. However, this time the shrink-wrapped packages were only put into a plastic envelope. They should be boxed to avoid breakage and crumbling during transport and delivery.

Always delicious!! I absolutely love these breads. They are delicious plain, or toasted. They are very good for you and high quality. I also make a similar long ferment travel bread. However, this one is super delicious and so handy! Also take with me traveling because it's so handy!!!

Great rich tasting rye bread. The problem is it’s very delicate and crumbly once removed from the packaging that holds it all together. When I cut the packaging open, I could tell it was delicate and gently removed a slice. In the process of putting the remaining loaf in a large ziplock bag to store in the fridge the whole loaf fractured in several places. Pricey bag of crumbled bread.

We call it rye bread in Dutch, but it's more like the name on the package, 'Whole Rye'. Love it toasted with butter, creme fraiche and jam. The toasted smell is terrific and creme fraiche is the perfect accompaniment. Getting regular bread of high quality from an esteemed bakery is a 45-minute trip for us. We have them but they're not close and not available at the markets. Ordering these packages from Mestemacher is a great consolation.
