Microwave Plate Warmers - Set of 3

Our Chemex glass coffee maker produces excellent filter coffee but does not retain the heat for very long. We searched far and wide for a simple wire-free hotplate so that we could bring the coffee jug to the table without the coffee going cold, but to no avail... until we came across the Wave-ware heat mats; a simple and inexpensive solution that really works. Our coffee stays beautifully hot now throughout breakfast in the garden! And our thanks also to James at Wave-ware for advice on heating times for using the mats as a hot-plate!

These are very good at heating the middle of plates or bowls; they are a bit small so the edges of plates stay cold. Best to leave them between the plates for a couple of minutes after taking them out of the microwave, that way the residual heat warms them more evenly. They can get very hot so need careful handling to avoid burning fingers and there is, I reckon, potential to crack some plates if too long in the microwave.

I don’t often leave reviews. But these are so good I felt it warranted it. My husband likes a warm plate so is always running hot water to warm his plate and then drying it etc. I got him these and they are brilliant. 30 seconds in the microwave and the plate warmers are hot and I mean hot. And keeps the plate warm with no drying needed. Excellent product

They work well but perish over time; I've put up with this for the first two times but the third time was enough - holes appearing and one time, smoke. I've moved onto some thicker grey ones that seem far more robust.

I use these a lot more than I thought I would because they're so simple to use, 60secs in the microwave and the plates/dishes are warm. My kitchen is unheated so in the colder months I have to warm the plates or the food would go cold very quickly. I used to warm them in the top oven which was a waste of electricity or use hot water which was a bit risky! Another issue I had was my granite worktops are also very cold but I now put the plate warmers onto the worktop and put the warm plates on top of them. They can be a bit smelly but the plates aren't tainted. I just wish I'd bought some a few years ago.

I particularly hate food 5hat goes cold quickly in the winter because the plates are cold & then if put them in oven if had it on the gets too hot & hard to handle. These are great, just pop in the microwave & nice warm plates & the pads stay hot for ages too. So thing they would be good to put under serving dishes when there are more of us to keep food hot so might get another set & as gifts too!

These are dead simple to use and do a good job. The box contains the three individual pads and a simple printed list of timings dependant on microwave power and number of pads (for reference two pads take about a minute). The edges have three ears that you will be grateful for as the main pad gets properly hot. From experience, if you accidentally grab one fresh out of the microwave it feels just as hot as a plate straight from the oven. My only issue is that something about the material they are made from make them absolute dust and dirt magnets. Clean them as much as you like (they’re dishwasher friendly by the way) and somehow you’ll always be having to brush off random crumbs before you put them on your plates. Ultimately I now prefer using these to heating plates in the oven. Only the centre of the plate gets hot so the edges are safe to hold and you’re using barely any energy and not hogging an oven shelf. Just watch out for those crumbs.

That these do get hot! Due to the size only the centre of the plate is heated, but it's enough to keep the meal hot.
