I keep being prodded to review this item, so this is difficult to explain.My actual need was to create a method to sharpen my circular saw blades, there are of course tools for this but at a price not realistic just to grind a "square edge" to their carbide tips. Over a period I made a base of wood, 12v geared motor, cheap speed control and adaptor to mount discs onto a 6mm shaft.So went looking for a diamond coated disc, first found a 115mm angle grinder disc at a cheap price, (because it seemed to me that those for blade sharpeners are very dear), that had a very coarse surface plus included edge cut outs which were "OK" but not ideal, this disc came from my searches for any other discsthat might work better.My adapter converted to its smaller bore hole and under test seemed to put an edge on a (hard steel) blunt knife I use for project work, it would seem to be quite tough enough for this test and I have yet to get time to try on any harder metal but think it should work, maybe even get a finer grit to compare.I am unable to say how tough it will be or how long a life it has but as diamond dust is harder than most other "things" should serve my purpose for a great price!I hope this will help any one decide on this product, I would think as with tiny discs I have used it will be the bonding that fails from heat or friction stress but think that is just normal.
