Tom Hardy as a bad biy
Bit dated - but still a story that`s gritty - Tom Hardy is epic as a bad boy.

The Take
I'm not going to lie - watching Tom Hardy's carrier since ST Nemesis and being a fervent admirer from Austria only being able to purchase most of his work within the last year (sellers seem to realize they can make good money off of Tom's growing popularity) - i had to get The Take. As always- Tom's performance is mesmerizing. One more time i will not give away any spoilers, so just know: Freddie (Tom) gets out of prison and has only one goal: to take London's underworld by storm, no matter the cost. he brings his cousin Jimmy (sweet and a lot more reasonable than Freddie: Shaun Evans) into the game, but events turn and Freddie has to stand his ground. he feels things are slipping out of his hands so he decides to take action in his cousins private affairs and that has unexpected consequences... involving Freddies own wife and three children, as well as Jimmy's... hard, violent, repulsive and without any good quality, Mr. Hardy once more proves he can do it all, if you enjoy gritty, dark and realistic crime stories, watch this. if you are a Tom Hardy fan, you will find it very much of a certification of your taste and why you like this actor.

Brilliant Watch
My first introduction to Tom Hardy and wow this packs a punch! The actors in it are brilliant so well cast. A nod must go to Tom as the baddie in this. Martina Cole should make more of her books into series’ she’s an amazing writer. Great watch.

Impact
Well written, well cast, well directed, well acted. So glad to have finally watched it. Warning: it’s so well done that it carries quite a punch, so not one to binge watch - I needed a good couple of days between each of the four episodes.

Taken By Storm
Martina Cole's The Take is a relentless and compulsive book about the East End ganglands of the 80s, exploding to life in this Sky One dramatisation, which does justice to the text, and then some.An epic melting pot of characters, plots, twists and turns, with nods to the social and political trends of the end of the century, this serialisation will have you glued to the screen for all of its four hours. The rise and fall of its main protagonist, Freddy Jackson, is grippingly portrayed by Tom Hardy, who succeeds in convincing us that there really isn't a decent bone in Freddy's body. From young, arrogant and handsome to cold, psychopathic and terrible, Freddy is juxtaposed with his unassuming and intelligent cousin, Jimmy, whose rise to wealth and power provides a stark contrast to Freddy's coked-up self-destruction.Given its storylines and its audience, The Take could easily have been little more than a vehicle for gratuitous violence and sensationalism à la Scarface. Instead it's intelligent, well crafted and multi-faceted, striking just the right balance of action and emotion, horror and pathos. Whatever you're looking for, your only disappointment will be that it's over too soon.
