Essential addition for Barmah hats
I brought this chin strap for my new Barmah hat, which was brought as a present. This chin strap is perfect for Barmah brand hats as it fits neatly through the special ’lugs’ under the hat brim. This chin strap is very comfortable and has a leather toggle rather than a plastic clip. The only reason why I’ve not given the 5 stars, is due to the cost. Although it’s much more expensive than other brands, it’s really the only strap that will fit without alterations of any sort.

WORKS OK WITH MY BARMAH KANGAROO HAT
I suppose that selling a bush hat without a chinstrap is just another way of increasing earnings; but I think it's pretty cheap of Barmah given the price of their hats. Mine was a gift; I wouldn't buy a bush hat without a chinstrap; it's just stupid unless you don't plan to go out in it.I thought it as well to buy the matching item. It's just a nylon cord, knotted at one end, threaded thrgough a tiny, folded piece of leather with two holes in it. This works fine as an adjuster, but I would have thought that a spring-loaded plastic fastener would have been better and more durable; but perhaps that's just not Barmah..

Cheaper than a new hat!
Ever had a hat that blew off and had difficulty retrieving it? I have a hat that I really like but it has no chinstrap and it has blown off a couple of times. When I saw this item I bought two (one for my other favourite chin-strap-less hat). What then is this chin strap? Essentially it a bootlace with 'T' bars at each end. The 'T' bar goes through two of the vent holes found on most hats. No vent holes? No point in buying this. Do they work? Yes, they do, very well. Would I recommend them? Yes. The downside is that they are very expensive for bootlaces - but still cheaper than a new hat!

Giving it 4 star instead of 5 as it is expensive for what it is.
You would have thought that it would be included with the hat as it too is expensive.

Perfect chinstrap for a well loved and used leather hat
My old South African leather hat has seen many trips and looks appropriately battered and stylish. But I have frequently been relieved of it by strong unexpected gusts in the Scottish countryside, and I could not bear to lose it over a cliff now. This strap is just perfect: not the macho style of a leather strap, but a strong brown cord with neat, easily slid toggle to adjust the fit under the chin. It is sure to last a long time, as is the hat, so it will probably see me out! Perfect.

Better than loosing your hat
A bit expensive for what you get but far cheaper than loosing your hatI have two barmar hats one cattle leather one kangaroo leather the cow leather one has little tabs fitted for fitting the strap, the kangaroo leather one doesn't, all i did was punch a hole on either side of the hat under the trim band this solves the problem mentioned by other reviewers of having to use the ventilation holes to fit the strap,Hope this helps Dai
