Peace of mind
Thankfully we havenโt had to use this yet!I can comment on the excellent quality of build and the weight which feels just right. It isnโt handed so itโs just as good for a left handed person as a normal one ;-)The plastic holder is substantial too and easily mounted close to the window which may be needed as an escape route (like in our bedroom where we donโt currently have a fire window fitted). There are good instructions for use provided. Note that this is intended for Double Glazing and the cheaper car escape hammers are NOT suitable for breaking double glazing. If you have a bedroom with no fully-opening panes for escape then get one of these for the peace of mind it can bring.

Super fast delivery and an excellent fire safety product.
Bought this emergency hammer after hearing about a friend who got caught in a fire situation (which was very scary) and not something I would like to happen to me or my family. Itโs a bit like buying a smoke alarm I guess, you donโt really think you need it until itโs too late! After reading another review that mentioned using a car hammer instead of the Lifeaxe, I decided to have a look at both to see what makes one better than the other (see photos). The difference is obvious; the Lifeaxe feels powerful and is really well built, is bigger and almost three times heavier than the car hammer. The car hammer was a cheap buy and feels like it too, Iโm not even sure I want it in my car now. You get what you pay for I guess.Noticed when you hold the car hammer your knuckles will hit the glass when you try and break it, imagine using that on double glazing! The Lifeaxe is angled away from the glass and has a knuckle guard so it offers some protection; it also has 5 sharp steel points to penetrate the glass, unlike the car hammer which has only one (which looks blunt). The whole hammer looks and feels like itโs designed to do the job properly, which gives me a lot of confidence it will work if I need it.Would I recommend it and is it really necessary?Yes I certainly would and you would be mad not to buy one, especially if, like me, you lock your windows to stop people trying to break in (imagine trying to find a key to unlock them at night with the room filled with smoke to try and get out, horrifying and scary thought). All down to money at the end of the day though; I wouldnโt have a cheap smoke alarm fitted in my home (who would) so Iโm not going to skimp on an emergency glass hammer either, it only cost the price of a pizza anyway!

Happily not yet used in anger!!

Sturdy, easy to fix.
The hammer is very sturdy looking and easy to fix in place. Fortunately we haven't had the need to use it yet, but it offers the necessary reassurance that if the worst happened, then you could break the double glazed windows easily.

Does what it says.
Exactly what it says it does. It does. Bought this as a gift to a family member who was worried if they couldn't get out of a window in the event of a fire. Ie. the window frames wrapping. It arrived earlier than expected. The hand guard is a great idea and instruction on the back of the packet.

User
Heavy and has advice, mounted on wall, so all good, fortunately not tried it out.
All good, made a sign for use but I think it would do the job as it has a line of points and is quite hefty.
