My daughter uses this due to problems with gluten. She is so grateful to have this as sometimes you just really need "bread!" She likes it a lot. Not great for "sweet" things. But good for sandwiches.

I don't have a clue as to why any reviewers of this whole rye bread product gave it such a low rating. I think either they haven't any idea what real whole rye bread should taste like or they're just from another planet or a time warp. I think that their taste buds must have been perverted from consuming too much white bread, junk food and must not know what a true wholesome food is supposed to be. But, I'm a dyed in the wool rye grain lover and this bread is simply terrific and has more than satisfied and lived up to all of my optimistic expectations. If you really love real 100% whole rye bread without any added wheat flour, preservatives, other junk additives or chemicals, as I do, then go ahead and check out this fantastic pure organic rye bread product. And, it also toasts just fine n dandy. Highly recommend. Delicious!

I've been buying this bread for years and always loved it. This time, however, as I opened the 6-pack (I got 2 of them), I saw immediately that the bread had dark spots all over and there was moisture inside individual packages. I opened a few of them and tasted the bread - it was awful, definitely not fresh. Took some of it to the nearby park to feed squirrels, but they did not like it either. $60 goes to trash.

This whole rye bread is a little more dense than the pumpernickel. The flavor is mild and I eat it as toast. I find it crumbles a little more than some of the other varieties. I will probably switch back to one of the other varieties next time.

This is a great bread. Nice and dense and wonderful to eat. Ordered and received in great speed. Highly recommended

Gotta admit when I first tried it with butter. I didn't really like it. But the the next morning I tried it toasted with cream cheese and a little garlic powder and wow!, it was great. Now a favorite of mine for breakfast. For those of you who care about GI, it makes for a nice low GI/GL snack.

Update: Recently opened a package stamped 08.08.2027 15050136. The slices were thicker, therefore less fragile. Nevertheless, -1 for probability of continuing quality control failures, and -1 for not responding to customers or, otherwise acknowledging reported problems and reporting resolutions. ____________________ Given my experience and the reviews that highlight the fragility, or poor durability, of this product and how it too easily breaks and crumbles, I submitted a question at Mestemacher, asking what the bakery plans to do about this problem. Thicker slices, for example, or a natural food binder, might help. Given that I have not received a response, I am submitting this review with a rating that reflects the apparent contempt that this business has for its customers. The only way that I have found to consume this product is on nut butter pasted on a toasted slice of regular, whole-grain bread.

Great rich tasting rye bread. The problem is it’s very delicate and crumbly once removed from the packaging that holds it all together. When I cut the packaging open, I could tell it was delicate and gently removed a slice. In the process of putting the remaining loaf in a large ziplock bag to store in the fridge the whole loaf fractured in several places. Pricey bag of crumbled bread.
