If u trying to fix a crack then no if ur useing to biled meat up it's fine but u need to get the alloy hot enynuf as the alloy wheel thick mettel did this help you ?

I need to repair a break in the rim of an aluminium garage door. Would the weld be strong enough to withstand the movement on a door?

Allo Can't really answer the question unfortunately as I had some issues getting the heat into the weld and I did not flux the joint well but saying that there is plenty on you tube regarding the usefulness of this and it is a good product according to many. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EBL734rK7A try this link as it shows joining of two pieces of aluminium and this seems to be what your asking to do with the dureweld. Can it. Be used to weld a hole in aluminium climate control pipes for cars

Accepted Answer

Pipe would need to out of the car with no fluid inside the pipe. Hole would need to be small relative to the diameter of the pipe. Area round hole needs to be freshly filed for removal of surface oxides. Heat needs to be applied very carefully whilst prodding/scratching around the weld area with the dura fix welding rod to watch for it starting to "wet" onto the surface of the pipe. Otherwise should work ok - I have used it to repair the thin walled tubes of some of the elements in an FM aerial which got broken in a gale last winter. Hope this helps,P.
