great if lack of bass is not a dealbraker
I don't have much experience to put out an elaborate review, I will be comparing the A80 to the Dali Zensor 3 speakers. Most reviews I saw were complaining about the remote, I didn't really have a problem with it, it's better quality than most TV remotes. It's compact, pleasant to touch, has soft touch mate finish, isn't flimsy at all, didn't have problem with putting in the battery as most reviewers had. So in my books, remote is good.Nice selection of cables, I didn't need any of them, but there were many to select from. The cable connecting both speakers was nice, but not as heavy as the thickness suggests, it looks heavier than it is. So cable selection is chalked as good, cable quality good/reasonable.Cabinets, everyone compliments these on good quality cabinets, and that is justly, they are nicely finished (I believe it's paint, although I'm not 100% sure on the type of the finish, maybe it was some sort of plastic finish). But don't expect the miracles, this isn't some custom Japanese urushi finish. So considering the price bracket of the item it's good/great.The sound, I now get what the reviewers mean by calling them "super transparent", highs on these are really super crisp and clear, music even in youtube quality surprised me, the singers voices sound much more legible, you can hear the exact moment the string is plucked or the water droplet dropped. So for vocals I really liked it and for the strings and saxophone too, but A80 are in a small cabinet, so you shouldn't expect too much bass out of them, but the bass that there is is very competent, but it starts at like 70hz or so. Hence a sub is almost a must, or perhaps the A100 which are in a bigger box so would have better bass. Also I did find them a bit fatiguing and bright as some have described.I had to return my pair, because the integrated amp was super loud, I listen to music at low levels half of the time and I could hear the amp hiss over the music, I couldn't keep because of that and I was not willing to jump through hoops to find out what is the issue, so I chalked it as poor QC and returned them. I tried different power outlets, and different times of day and everything, hiss was still there, even when only the main speaker was connected to power, with no other cables plugged in. I don't have power conditioners or anything like that, I never had the issue with other sound equipment so I didn't feel I need it.TLDR:if you don't need bass or have a sub, they are great, very transparent, hi-definition and all that, but a little fatiguing. Remote is good, cable selection good, cabinets beautiful.
