Great little grater but read on....
It's coped with everithing I've put in it. The blades are really sharp, the same kind found on a microplane. They're not little holes they are actual sharpened blades all around the drum. It takes a much bigger piece of cheese than my last one - about the size of two matchboxes. The only downside is if you suffer with even slightly weak hands you might have difficulty turning the handle as it can be quite stiff and it's a little tricky to apply enough pressure to squeeze the cheese through at the same time. I can manage it but only just. Otherwise brilliant.

rotary great grater
I bought this to replace a broken rotary grater I had had for 8 years.I chose this rotary grater because of the brand, Zyliss. It's made of plastic and silicon and has small and large Zyliss grater drums. The grater is easy to assemble and washes great in the dishwasher and sink. The fine grater is very fine and the large grater is good for most things. The small grater is great for Parmesan, cinnamon sticks , nutmeg, the large grater is good for cheese, cabbage, carrot and beetroot.I gave it 4 stars because the handle is small and does not lock into place.I am pleased with my purchase.

great addition to any kitchen!
this is definitely the future of cheese grating! its incredible, and so easy to use. It comes with the handle, and two different blade sets. The twisting handle is part of the blade set, and not the main handle, so it swings out of the way when you need to store it. But the blades are really sharp and it goes through cheese, and other vegetables, like nothing.I do find that you have to cut the items into more manageable sizes before starting, as the handle opens to reveal an insertion hole for the cheese, and the handle gets gripped tightly and acts as the pincher. But this isn't a problem when preparing food. it just means you cannot shove an entire block into it in one go.But i was really surprised at how fine it is able to grate it. One small square covers over double what i'd usually cover with my old grater. Its really easy to take apart, and although their are quite a few nooks and crannies, it isn't that hard to clean either. We do usually wash it by hand, but i'm sure it'll be fine in a dishwasher,as its nearly all plastic. But i think it makes a fine addition to any kitchen. The only downside, is that it doesn't come with a storage bag or box for the blades. Because it comes with two, only one is left in the handle, so the other goes loose in the drawer next to it. It would be better if it could be protected from fingers digging around, but you just have to be more mindful of this when rummaging.

An effective redesign
We had the previous model Zyliss grater for several years and it was mostly a very good product. The little coned attachment to direct the grated cheese would often fall off; and the folding handles on both drums tended to fold up again in use. Both these irritations were fixed with the new model, bought here in March 2022. Recently the handle of one drum broke, no idea why since we're not rough with things. The UK distributor, DKB Household of Farnborough, were unusually understanding, stretched a point (thanks Daniel!) and supplied a replacement free of charge. Exemplary customer service. Great product.

Not as good as it sounds
I have been using this product for about six months now and whilst it's good enough, it's nothing special and there are some irritating factors. The handle itself feels well made and strong and is very easy to clean - even by hand. Actually, I think with a bit of care the blades are also easy to clean by hand though you do have to be careful to wipe the cloth or sponge in the same direction as the blades rather than against them. It comes with two size blades but I'll be honest, I've never really used the small one as it's tricky enough with the larger blade. Switching the blades can be a little bit tricky because there doesn't seem to be quite a clean fit on mine and so the blade drum needs to be a certain way round to fit through. It's a great idea to just turn a small handle to grate and should work better than it does. I have relatively small hands and I cannot put enough pressure on the closed part of the handle to push to food against the blades with enough force to grate it properly. The handle also is very easy to flip inwards again and so I often find it suddenly doing so and my hand drawn to the centre of the blade drum. Also, whilst it hasn't broken the handle does feel quite flimsy and I find myself expecting it to give up any day.In addition, some food stuffs clog the blades (ginger, for example). Softer foods, like cheese, fare much better and the blades are very sharp and tackle them easily enough. By it's nature, you can only really grate small amounts at a time but this hasn't been as much of a problem as it sounds and may even have helped reduce how much cheese I eat!

For a plastic grater, a really good piece of kit
Great little grater, copes with hard and medium cheese without difficulty. Was apprehensive about purchasing this as I have owned plastic and metal drum graters in the past that have been worse than useless, but the Zyliss is well made and does the job.Easy to clean, it makes short shrift of cheese. The blades are well designed, and the large diameter means that they don't get gummed up like the smaller diameter variety. Good build quality, it should last longer than many other plastic rotary graters. This is the closest to a modern equivalent to the vintage French Mouli drum grater I have come across to date. While the original versions (which were built to withstand a lifetime of hard kitchen use) are rarer than hen's teeth, this grater is a good compromise. The only improvement Zyliss could make is to include a slicing blade, but other than that if you are looking for a decent drum grater this is the one to get - much better than many of the metal and plastic equivalents that only last a few months.

Good for certain things only
This isn't any good for grating nuts or ginger but it works well for cheese. It is folding for easy storage

Favorite grater
We went through multiple cheese graters trying to find “the one” and this is it. It’s easy to use and has options for hard or soft cheeses. Also love that I don’t have to worry about nicking my fingers.

Such a Nice Kitchen Addition
Comes with 2 grating wheels, this is a fantastic tool to grate fresh parmigiano reggiano onto your meals. This is the 2nd one of these I've owned; the first one was stolen by a roommate. it's very durable/well made, strong plastic (I tend to kind of manhandle my tools). Upper level dishwasher save incl grating wheels and body of grater. Kinda also just nice to look at, it's pretty. Easy to clean-every surface is easily accessable if you want to hand wash. For the dishwasher I just open the device like a pair of scissors and lay it on the top rack.really, just a nice tool. Oh, you can put the blades in either for Right handed folks or us lefties. Get it.
