Retro Atari Flashback 8 Gold HD (Electronic Games)

Reading past reviews we guessed this had a 50% chance of being actually functional. We lucked out! It’s a great system with all the classics. Everything worked right out of the box. It was worth purchasing pre-set for HDMI plug in so I didn’t have to track down any additional cables!

I would have given it 5 stars however the Joysticks are not as responsive as they should be, especially when playing Pong, Breakout, Space Invaders and Missle Command and the BIGGER issue is that it doesn't come with Pacman, Defender, DigDug or Berzerk ! Also, there should be a HIGH score memory for each game so you can have bragging rights in the house! Other than those issues, I have been happy with the system. It was a snap to setup and the menus are beautiful...much better than the Nintendo throwback system...and a bonus for all of your Dad's out there that coudn't play Call of Duty if you life depended on it with those 27 buttons on the Xbox or PS controller....now you can level the playing field with your kids on games that can't be beat, saved or cheated....all with a simple joystick! I actually beat my son at a game today for the first time is like 15 yrs...haha! I hope they can add the other games someday as they are sorely missed....It's also nice that you don't have to play a game that lasts several hrs...some games are over in less than a minute. Not bad, just not very good. I ended up giving this away, as it was quite boring. I feel that you are ruined once you have experienced the gaming systems of today.

We are having a blast from the past with this. I don’t like new video games due to the graphic nature of them so I thought about how my days of playing Atari were fun. We love the play and my 7 year old loves frogger. Great purchase and easy set up! Sometimes you do have to remove the paddles plug in for joy sticks to work but overall, great family fun!

really enjoy playing all the old games

I bought the Atari as a Christmas present for the family to show them how video games were played when i was a kid. Unfortunately, this system is not like the old system. It's junk. The controller only works on less than half the games. Also the paddle controllers are not sensitive enough to work on the games that are made for. I decided to return the unit, but the cheapest option was $20 because free returns aren't offered. Because returning it would cost 1/3 of the value of the system I decided to keep it and let the kids play the games that work.....but it is a huge disappointment. Btw, the only mainstream game that works is Frogger.

The controllers are very responsive. It' great that i hook up to hdmi tv I like they kept the same pixel and sounds, making it nostalgic. I used to have an atari very long time ago, was a passed down. I loved asteroid , centipede, and jungle hunt etc This is a great way for future generations to appreciate the original video games. Only negative is you can not update or connect to internet to get more games. Atari/ activision are missing a great opportunity. Eg downloading or renting pac man for instance, sharing scores with other online users. Good quality, many games

The console works and it's loaded with 120 games. You may be surprised at how basic all those 8 bit games were. Still, I can't get enough of Frogger. It comes with 2 blue tooth joysticks and two corded paddle controllers.

I had an original Atari and as memorabilia it is fun. I was disappointed that the “universal” plug was not universal. I had to go and buy an adapter to plug it in to a powerpoint. Being this device was bought on Amazon Au and came from a distributor in Australia, I would expect it to have an Australian plug.

Die Spielekonsole war ein Geschenk für meinem Mann. Da er früher eine Atari Spielekonsole mit einigen Spielen hatte, war er sehr enttäuscht, dass genau diese Spiele entweder gar nicht dabei waren, oder nicht in der Qualität von früher. Alles in Allem ein enttäuschender Fehlkauf, der jetzt sein Dasein im Schrank fristet.

Es un buen articulo que tiene los juegos clasicos de cuando comenzaban los video juegos. Lo recomiendo para las personas que alguna vez tuvieron la oportunidad de jugarlo en aquella epoca.

Dubitatif au départ à la lecture des commentaires, et ravi à l’arrivée. Délicieusement régressif. Un réel plaisir de retrouver des jeux d’il y a 35 ans. Un grand nombre des 120 jeux sont en effet injouables aujourd’hui, mais il y en a encore une bonne vingtaine qui sont de très bons jeux, en dépit de leurs graphismes ou de leur conception simples. En fait, même mon fils de 8 ans a délaissé sa WIuu pour cette console et j’ai du mal à jouer quand il est là,..ou alors je joue avec lui, ce qui est aussi très sympa !

If you are looking for fancy modern and sleek like graphics of today forget it, this is for people who want to re-experience, just as it was, the gaming of their youth. It really is retro. We loved it, and the price for what you got was good value. The dinky cute console doesn't take cartridge games, the games are preloaded. I loved it, and it made me feel like a kid again. It most certainly takes pride of place alongside our collection of other gaming consoles. Atari, you still rock!
