useless purchase
after 4 or 5 hours of use filing mild steel box section it has a groove worn in it, i've never worn a file out in 40 years and only bought this as I hadn't time to acid etch my old files, completely useless and a waste of money, i've only given one star as I couldn't post this review without giving it a star

Great value and does the job
Super quick delivery.Used to do first sharpen of a very blunt axe and lawnmower blade. The file shaves off the metal with ease and produced a decent edge that allowed for finer sharpening with other file.Like others say, use in one smooth direction and file should last.

Ripped through toughened steel.
Bought this to help me repair a security post at the bottom of the drive. I’d bent the post so needed to trim the opening at the top to allow the post to drop all the way into the sleeve. This file made very short work of the strengthened steel, very quickly I’d taken a few mm off two sides.Excellent piece of kit.

BIG
It's big. For whatever reason, I read it as 10cm rather than 10in. Can't imagine needing a file this big for anything I'll be doing, but rather too big than not big enough! Amirite ladies?

Good effective tool at a cheap price.
Bought this to "adapt" some aluminium control arms for a project car. Used properly, it tore through the metal but could als be used gently. Im very impressed. It didnt feel too brittle either, as at some points i was rather forceful. Good tool at a cheap price.

Couldnt make flat steel corsets without this
It can be a bit tricky to use but i use this for filling down flat steel boning for victorian corsets this is so handy and saved me from having to cut to mean small peices off the boning before i dip them to seal the end.

An effective course metal file
An effective course metal file. It is important to keep it "sharp" by using a wire brush regularly to remove loose material from the file
